JOB SUMMARY

The Sales Manager is accountable for proactively soliciting and handling all sales opportunities ensuring that business is turned over efficiently with professional service delivery. The successful candidate will lead all day-to-day sales related activities with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives based on the overall vision and strategy of the hotel. This role comes with a competitive salary and includes a bonus incentive scheme.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Business Development – Building Successful Relationships that Generate Sales Opportunities

  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future business across all key market segments. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows and international travel may be required.
  • Develops relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.
  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Market Trends and Target Customer Information

  • Identifies new business to achieve revenue goals.
  • Understands the overall market – competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply, and demand etc. and how to sell against them.
  • Closes the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and location needs.
  • Gains understanding of the location’s primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution.

Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Supports the company’s service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Executes and supports the company’s customer service standards.
  • Provides excellent customer service consistent with the daily service basics of the company.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels

JOB REQUIREMENTS

SPECIFIC DUTIES

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position (include but are not limited to):

To implement, communicate and regularly review an annual sales activity plan, ensuring that sales administration systems are in place to maintain targeted sales performance within the hotel

To plan and deliver effective hotel sales strategies in conjunction with the commercial team.

To agree all contact with managed accounts, and third-party agents with the account owner to gain maximum sales advantage

To negotiate the right rate for business in accordance with the needs of the hotel collaboratively with the commercial team.

To co-ordinate all sales activity for the Aloft Hotel, Tenters Gastro Pub and Food & Beverage outlets

To maintain and develop an effective relationship with the Marriott Global Sales Teams

To create and manage a successful sales culture across all departments

Provides accurate, complete and effective weekly/monthly reporting to senior management.

Effectively prepare and distribute regular sales activity planning, demonstrating tactical and strategic actions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible management experience in Business Transient or Group Sales; OR a degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major and 1 years of experience in Sales within a full and/or select-service hotel or related professional area.
