Your New Role…
The Accounting Manager of the Corporate Personnel Accounting team will lead a team of professionals based in the Mexico City office and report to an Accounting Director based in Atlanta or Knoxville, as well as Finance contacts across WBD’s global offices. This position will be responsible for the oversight of the HBO/Direct to Consumer (DTC) personnel accounting activities of the team. This includes the review and analysis of activities in the following key areas: Bonus Comp Analysis, Severance, Personnel Cash Forecasting and Analysis, and other general personnel accounting matters within the HBO/DTC business. Since the Accounting Manager will be interacting regularly with various levels of management within the Controllership organization, possessing strong analytical, issue-resolution, and communication skills is a must. Due to the sensitive nature of the information that will be made available to this individual, this accounting manager role will also require someone with a keen sense of confidentiality. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and a high level of professionalism and accountability to communicate financial information to Finance and Operational partners at all levels throughout the company.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Oversee the month-end close process to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
- Review and approve the team’s work product to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies and controls. Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained.
- Lead the team in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Review and highlight relevant P&L variances between the current month and the YTD average.
- Assist key stakeholders in understanding or resolution of any open cashflow-related questions stemming from accounts within the scope of your responsibility.
- Analyze existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide guidance to the team on how to implement those changes.
- Lead special projects and proactively develop accurate ad hoc analyses for management to make informed decisions.
- Assist with team administration: feedback, development, training, and assessment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent
- Experience in similar positions (6+ years) including managerial experience (4+ years).
- Fluent in English
- Ability to adapt to dynamic and uncertain environments (flexibility and prioritization).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Great communication skills as this individual will be coordinating with stakeholders both domestically and internationally.
- Proficient in Excel and other MS tools.
- Abilities to develop interpersonal relationships.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree and/or CPA
- Personnel Accounting experience
- Keen attention to detail
- Track record of demonstrating process re-engineering to gain efficiency while not compromising process effectiveness.
- Experience in Shared Business Services centers
- Experience in Media Industry, Big Four firms, or global companies
- Experience in SAP/Peoplesoft or other ERP systems
- Experience in Hyperion, SmartView, EPM, and other database tools
- Experience in Blackline/Cadency Certification
