Job Description
Environment Art Lead Responsibilities:
- Evolve and execute artistic vision and high production standard in the creation of products in direct collaboration with creative, technical and production leaders
- Regularly meet with environment team members and pod leads to give artistic feedback, guide quality, and ensure environment cohesion across projects
- Create documentation and guides for internal and external teams in partnership with the Art Director
- Collaborate with tech art team on environment tool needs
- Manage expectations for key stakeholders regarding the execution of quality VR experiences and content
- Use industry standard and proprietary tools to create content
- Partner with PMs and art management to plan production priorities and review production art for check in
- Partner with product managers, engineers, user researchers, and designers to see our projects through from concept to ship and beyond
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in supervising and driving projects from beginning to end
- Experience in articulating visual vision to 3D artists and collaborate with multidisciplinary contributors to arrive at the visual goal
- Experience in leading art styles, from realistic to caricature to abstract
- Knowledge of art and visual design principles and techniques relating to environmental design
- Knowledge of game development including: art creation processes (both 2D and 3D), technology requirements and advancements, trade-offs, and challenges associated with development
- Experience at problem solving (both alone and in groups), evaluate challenges and provide solutions
- Organizational experience with managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines and expectations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry experience in games or other 3D interactive media, VR development experience
- Technical experience in standard game engines such as Unity or Unreal and art pipelines
- Proficient in industry standard art tools such as Photoshop, Maya, Modo, Zbrush or similar
- Portfolio demonstrating an interest in games and/or VR
- Experience as Lead Artist in charge of significant aspect of visual development
