A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Hsieh Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level (Schuster and Hsieh Trends in Cancer 2019, Liu et al. Science Translational Medicine 2019, Jana et al. JCI Insight 2021, Lim et al. Nature Communications 2021, Germanos et al. eLIFE 2022, and Jana et al. Cancer Cell 2023). Available projects in the laboratory focus on understanding how mRNA-specific translation is achieved within cells and how mRNA translation coordinates distinct cancer phenotypes such as cellular plasticity and immune evasion.
Responsibilities For this position, the applicant will utilize murine genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, functional genomics, genome editing techniques, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus promotes cancer phenotypes at a deep mechanistic level. Fred Hutch has more than 200 postdoctoral fellows working in labs across all five research divisions. Qualifications Minimum qualifications We are looking for exceptional candidates with a recent PhD and/or MD, a record of productive research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts. Preferred qualifications A strong background in murine work, high throughput methods, RNA biology, and/or computational biology are highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The annual base salary range for this position is from $65,484. 00 to $100,000. 00 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
