Description We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral research associate to join Dr. Salamova’s lab in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. The candidate will work on various projects focused on environmental exposures to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), disinfectants, flame retardants, and other environmental contaminants. The post-doc will be responsible for laboratory work, including applying liquid-chromatographic and gas chromatographic-mass spectrometry for the analysis of environmental and biological samples, statistical data analyses, manuscript writing, and attending scientific conferences. Other responsibilities may include assistance with general laboratory operations and student or staff supervision. The minimum qualification is a Ph. D. in environmental or analytical chemistry, environmental health or toxicology, or any other field related to environmental science and/or health.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated an ability to work independently and in a research group. Organizational proficiency and strong oral and written communication skills (in English) are essential. Experience in organic extraction and chemical analyses using mass spectrometry and in the analysis of organic pollutants is strongly desired. The start date is flexible. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. The initial appointment at Emory University will be for 1 year, with a possibility for extension subject to availability of continued funding and adequate performance.
