Washington, D.C., Assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Controller of the Finance Department in carrying out the day-to-day accounting activities with emphasis on bank and general ledger transactions. Ensure the Association’s accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, Federal, State, and Local laws as it relates to senior staff accountant functions. Reconcile all electronic payments (credits cards-PayPal; wire payments) to prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile statements to general ledger. Review and post cash receipt IMIS batches. Prepare and run auto-draft electronic payment process. Reconcile and record investment transactions to the general ledger as required by financial standards. Finance staff liaison for outsourced Association subscriptions activities by performing reconciliations and recording to the general ledger accounts. Communicate & coordinate with outside partners/vendors/fulfillment house to maintain workflow of systems, processes, and publication/subscription orders. Serve as Controller backup when required. Assist the CFO with special projects as required including preparation for the annual audit and compilation of financial information and account analysis. Perform other duties as assigned based on needs of the department and the Association. College degree in accounting or any equivalent combination of training and experience that produces the knowledge of methods, practices and terminology used in accounting. Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in non-profit accounting. Must be able to work effectively with staff, APHA members and external contacts. Project oriented. Experience with IMIS and/or Great Plains preferred. Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends and travel to staff APHA related meetings as needed. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations. Hybrid work environment.
Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Monday – Friday (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
