Newton/NJ/USA, Overview Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Dietetic Assistant for the Food Services department at Newton Medical Center. Responsibilities Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Collects and assembles appropriate menus for assigned floors based on diet order. Menu is consistent with orders in Care Manager system. (b) Completes menu selections with patients. (c) Communicates with the nurses on the assigned units for patient requests/late trays//supplies. Documents delivery of late trays/new orders to monitor food costs. (e). Communicates questions with Registered Dietitians. Maintains friendly and efficient attitude toward customers, co-workers and clients. Maintains standards of the department and those set by the Hospital, the Department of Health and JCAHO.
Orients patients to Policies and Procedures. Assesses patients acceptance and tolerance of food during meals and overall satisfaction with the service. Communicates necessary information to Dietitians and Clinical Nutrition Coordinator including any patients deemed to be at nutritional risk for difficulty with oral intake or diet consistency. Accurately compiles a list of special food orders and communicates effectively with food production employees. Delivers trays to patients in a timely fashion. Identifies patient using patient identifiers. Verifies NPO lists with units. Assists with tray set-up as requested. Prepares cold food items per specifications to recipes, are appealing and properly labeled. Delivers food stock/supplies to assigned units and stocks supplies to par levels.
Records supplies delivered daily to monitor food costs. Attends all in-services and training programs as directed and applies the knowledge to improve work performance. Assists in mentoring and training new employees as leadership skill development process Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe environment for self, coworkers, visitors and other staff in the institution. Reports unsafe conditions such as damaged equipment, unsafe and unsanitary conditions to supervisors and management. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal regulations. Maintains compliance with all requirements of Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. Consistently cleans during shift, following cleaning schedule and clean as you go. Has been trained in the proper use of all cleaning chemicals and location and usage of MSDS sheets. Qualifications Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum Experience: Previous food service experience preferred To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
