Jacksonville, Florida, The Clinical Research Assistant I performs a dual role in support of the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers (ALA-ACRC) Nemours/University of Florida Consortium and the Nemours Biobank and Molecular Analysis Program (BMAP). This individual works collaboratively as an active team member in support of ALA-ACRC clinical research studies conducted at Nemours and the University of Florida (UF) – Jacksonville. In addition, this individual performs a primary research role in the CAP accredited BMAP and conducts various specimen processing for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory. The physical location for the position will be at Nemours in Jacksonville. Under the direction of the lead ACRC study coordinator, the Clinical Research Assistant I will be responsible for preparing for/assisting with study visits, completion of study procedures (vital signs, lab processing, equipment set up), assigned recruitment activities, monitoring survey/questionnaire completion, and providing administrative support. Administrative duties may include, but are not limited to, collecting, preparing, and submitting regulatory documents, maintaining detailed study records, interacting with vendors and third-party providers, and attending study related meetings. Under the direction of the BMAP Program Manager, the Clinical Research Assistant I will be responsible for consenting patients for biobanking as well as conducting routine specimen processing including plasma/serum isolation, mononuclear cell extraction, flash freezing of tissue specimens, and tissue culture. Additional responsibilities include assisting in processing clinical trial specimens. Maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed. Assists in implementation of new laboratory protocols and processes, maintenance of lab equipment, and monitors supplies.
This is a fast- paced working environment involving time sensitive specimens and hard deadlines. A high level of organization with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities is required. This position will work with multiple departments enterprise wide (Florida, Delaware) and must maintain a high level of professionalism and a continuous process improvement mindset. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required At least one year of research experience required
