Alexandria, Virginia, At AMGA, we are paving the way for medical groups and integrated systems of care to deliver the next level of high-performance health. This position will report to the Senior Director, Government Relations. The Government Relations Assistant will be involved in AMGA advocacy to policymakers as well as provide administrative, clerical and logistical support to the Public Policy Department. The ideal candidate will be a smart self-starter with superior organizational and administrative skills; possess strong communications abilities, both verbal and written; and have a general knowledge or interest in healthcare.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Advocacy and Engagement with Congress – Closely involved in growing and maintaining AMGA’s advocacy efforts, which include developing congressional support for relevant legislation and issues, planning and executing Capitol Hill Lobby Days, recruiting for and maintaining the Grassroots Network, as well as tracking and analyzing relevant legislation.
Member Services – Directly involved in member services. Attends and presents at regional meetings when appropriate, and drafts related materials for AMGA members.
Editorial Responsibilities – Writes, reviews, edits and/or formats documents and publications, Power Point presentations, and Excel spreadsheets, arranges meeting logistics.
Administrative Responsibilities – Drafts minutes for monthly calls and meetings, maintains spreadsheets and presentations. 

Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government relations, communications, or a similar subject
1 year experience in public policy preferred
Knowledge and understanding of Capitol Hill a plus
Must have strong analytical writing and communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products
Must be a team player
This position is fully remote, but candidate must reside in the Washington, DC area
