County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a public healthcare system in the heart of Silicon Valley affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is expanding services and has immediate openings for board eligible or certified attending psychiatrists and PGY-IVs in a variety of clinical settings, including the Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) , Inpatient Consultation Liaison services, Jail/Custody Health Inpatient services, Specialty Mental Health Outpatient services and Primary Care Behavioral Health services. Opportunities for additional moonlighting for PGY IV also exist within our healthcare system.

About the organization
County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), an agency of CSCHS, is comprised of three hospitals:  Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC – a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH – 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds).  In addition, CSCHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad-range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.

About the Department
The Department of Psychiatry is staffed with qualified credentialed physicians, psychologists, advanced practice providers, and licensed clinical social workers who provide prevention, education, and treatment to all residents of Santa Clara County, regardless of ability to pay.
 
The Department of Psychiatry staffs a 24/7 psychiatric emergency room (EPS), a seven-day per week mental health urgent care clinic, where walk-in crisis intervention is available, two inpatient units at the hospital, and a number of adult and child/adolescent mental health and substance treatment clinics at various geographically convenient locations in the county.
 
Our Division of Consultation and Liaison (C&L) psychiatry provides inpatient psychiatric consults services to internal medicine, surgery, OB/GYN, peds, trauma, rehab, and the ED. We are a collegial work environment integrating acute psychiatric care with acute medical issues and work closely with multiple specialties.  We have ancillary support and an integrated electronic health record (EPIC).  There will be teaching to other trainees from other specialties.
 
Our staff are ethnically diverse, and provide trauma informed, culturally appropriate services in many languages, reflective of the diversity of the population in Santa Clara County.
 
About the Positions

Full-time Consultation and Liaison Psychiatrist: The position requires experience with consultation liaison psychiatry; fellowship trained in Consultation Liaison psychiatry is preferred. The ideal candidate will be fellowship board certified in consultation liaison psychiatry and has experience growing programs within an acute care setting.

 

Full-time Custody Psychiatrists: The preferred candidate will have previous experience working in custody psychiatry and/or acute inpatient psychiatry services. The unit’s capacity is 41 beds with 3 psychiatrists covering the unit.

 

Full-time, part-time, or extra help General Psychiatrist : We have positions in Emergency Psychiatric Services, Valley Health Center in Gilroy and South County, Central Wellness and Benefits Clinic, Valley Homeless Health Program, PACE, Narvaez Mental Health, and others are available.

 

In addition, part-time opportunities for BE/BC psychiatrists and PGY IVs are available .
