This is your opportunity for career growth and leadership development! The opportunity to serve as a Supervisory Physician at one of our Rural Health clinics includes working with a dynamic, collaborative, and engaged local leadership team to manage high quality & efficient health care on site. At VA Northern California Health Care System, we stress the principles of servant leadership; the Supervisory Physician will benefit from training and gain experience in effective communication, data management, and process improvement for success on the front line.
Managerial duties will include staff deployment & leave administration, human resources management & labor relations, professional practice review & evaluation, and planning & implementation around existing system imperatives. The Supervisory Physician will also have freedom and support to explore and develop or tailor new initiatives and projects to meet service performance metrics and/or health system strategic goals at their sites. The roll will afford regular mentorship and interaction with Service level & Executive Leadership, including daily huddling, recurring site and system wide meetings, and championship of one or more broad performance metrics. The Supervisory Physician will have a reduced clinical load commensurate with the size/complexity of the site and the number of staff reports. Additional reductions may be considered for additional skills and work in various areas of key interest such as whole-health deployment. Eligible applicants must be able to provide comprehensive general primary care and comprehensive women’s health care. Best Qualified candidates would have the following qualities:

A history of successful prior leadership/management activities (or demonstrate informal leadership training, experience & skills) with the ability to inspire excellence, build teams, collaborate broadly, promote innovation, and be able to create & manage professional accountability on the front line.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, as well as operational and facilitation skills are essential.
Must have the ability to meet VA established performance measure goals and possess a thorough knowledge of the standards of the Veterans Health Administration and other accrediting bodies.

Work Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30p Candidates must:

 2) Possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state.
3) Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
4) Board prepared/certified in Internal or Family Medicine
5) Confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which are both requirements for all Health Care Personnel (HCP) employed by Department of Veterans Affairs.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.  VHA Physician Total Rewards . Pay:  Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off:  50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement:  Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance:  Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure:  1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME:  Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice:  Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract:  No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
