Saint Louis, Missouri, Additional Information About the Role Barnes-Jewish Hospital is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. Role Purpose Manage operational and administrative functions for all organizational Environmental Health and Safety programs, including budget management; departmental personnel hiring, supervision and direction; program and staff development. Sustain compliance with regulatory standards related to environmental health and safety for survey readiness at hospital and affiliated campuses. Coordinate all safety activities with other hospital campuses, public emergency responders and project management teams for new/ongoing construction and renovation. Serve as designated organizational safety officer. Responsibilities Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership. Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals. Develops, implements and maintains all policies, procedures and regulatory programming in safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, and environmental policies mandated by regulatory agencies.
Maintain current fire safety plans . Develops and implements safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, and environmental training programs, including emergency response/decontamination training . Reviews constructions drawings and specifications to verify compliance with all safety, fire prevention and industrial hygiene and environmental regulatory standards. Conducts accident Investigations and Job and Worksite Hazard Analyses. Prepare and present various monthly, quarterly and annual environment of care management reports in alignment with accreditation/agency requirements, for survey readiness . Manages designated department staff via: budget management, hiring, training, assigning work, managing/evaluating performance, and conducting professional development plans. Verify productivity and actions of designated department staff meet/support overall department operational goals, as established by department leadership.
