A Qualified Medical Dosimetrist is an individual who uses critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of medical dosimetry procedures. The medical dosimetrist is a member of the radiation oncology team who has knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment, is cognizant of procedures commonly used in brachytherapy and has the education and experience necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the medical physicist and radiation oncologist.
Responsible for tumor localization, computerized treatment planning, dose calculations, block and compensator construction, and initial chart documentation. Verifies chart accuracy and completeness. Position will be cometely remote. Flexible Schedule. What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:* One year of practical clinical experience in Radiation Dosimetry to include treatment planning and simulation is preferred. New graduates with proper clinical rotations during the individual training and demonstrated competencies will be considered.
* Ideal candidate will have a total of at least 18 months of experience between study, training, and direct experience related to the position.
* Bachelors Degree in Radiation Therapy, Radiation Science, Radiography, Physics or related scientific discipline, required. * Demonstrated completion of 1,000 clinical curriculum hours in medical dosimetry treatment planning during Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) course of study, required.
* Be a graduate of a Medical Dosimetry JRCERT accredited program of at least 12 months OR a JRCERT Master’s Degree program, required.
* Medical Dosimetrist Certification (Board Eligible) within 18 months of hire date or transfer. * Candidates that are already holding dosimetry board certification will be considered to have met all the requirements.
