Miami, Florida, Description Job Summary Plans, administers, and directs clinical quality management programs and activities for Nicklaus Institutes including Brain, Cardiac, Orthopedics, and Cancer. Partners with, enables and supports operational and clinical leaders in effecting continuous improvements in patient- and family-centered care. Develops and implements programs and systems to meet departmental and service line quality objectives consistent with Nicklaus Children’s Health System’s mission, vision, and strategic plan. Brings data systems insights and human factors expertise to the identification of care gaps, opportunities, potential counter-measures, and the continuous testing and adjusting of care processes. Responsible for daily interaction with front-line and senior level staff, clinicians, and management.   Engaging individuals and teams in outcome-based improvements. Job Specific Duties Develops, monitors, and presents internal quality measures and initiatives.   Tracks and reports clinical outcomes including internal and external benchmarking.   Manages disease registries and departmental participation in registry-driven improvement collaboratives with external peer organizations.   Provides in-service training in the area of quality improvement.

  Assists departmental director in managing daily departmental activities and advancement of departmental goals and objectives. Able to provide temporary and short term coverage to director during periods of vacation or illness. Coordinates and collaborates with stakeholders, multidisciplinary teams, and internal and external customers to create collaborative work relationships that drive performance and quality outcomes in a timely and effective manner.   Maintains fluency in external quality standards and methodologies. Directly manages personnel resources from hiring to employment separation while supervising staff through orientation, training, and annual performance reviews within established guidelines.   Performs personnel procedures including payroll, time, and attendance, and progressive disciplinary action. Develops educational programs and trains staff in related skills, values, and career development to ensure employee engagement and retention goals are achieved. Implements teaching and learning strategies and facilitate group dynamics. Develops short, mid, and long-term quality goals with plans to facilitate/guide goal achievement that are consistent with the mission and values of the Health System and the overall quality department. Involves unit staff in goal development, planning, execution, and evaluation via our shared.

Revises plan based upon evaluation of progress toward goals. Assists areas within department with goal development, planning, execution, and evaluation.   Integrates professional standards and evidence-based practice in development and evaluation of quality initiatives. Participates as requested on teams, committees, and special projects both internal and external to the organization.   Revises the performance improvement plan in collaboration with the Quality Resources Director based on needs identified through results of assessment and review of new regulatory body accreditation standards.   Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements 2-4 years experience in Quality/Performance Improvement Experience with internal quality scorecards and public benchmarking Experience with data and analytics 2-4 years clinical experience in acute care setting Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Master’s degree strongly preferred. Certification in quality or performance improvement (I. e. LEAN) preferred. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, Excel, and PowerPoint) experience; Access and Visio preferred.

Project management experience preferred. Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in writing. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to establish a positive working relationship and rapport with medical staff, department heads, staff, and colleagues. Ability to prioritize work independently and evaluate workload in order to meet deadlines. Ability to work through others, influence stakeholders, and staff to achieve a common goal. Ability to lead change and transform culture using leadership principles. Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with disease registries including data definitions, structures, reporting, and privacy protections. Solid understanding of operational processes in a healthcare setting.

Demonstrated management skills resulting in the ability to manage departmental and interdepartmental relationships and prioritize time and resources accordingly.
