Orlando, Florida, Description PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : · Demonstrate a working knowledge of the service area. · Moves patients of various size, weight and conditions from initial patient location to final destination using proper body mechanics. · Transports passengers safely, assists them door-to-door, loads and unloads both passengers and belongings. Facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients, visitors, or employees from area to area via stretchers, wheelchairs, beds or vehicle. Also facilitates movement of related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs and/or equipment. · Makes scheduled and unscheduled trips to various facilities to pick up patients, visitors or employees, as directed, in a timely and efficient manner. · Adheres to all local and state traffic regulations and is cognizant of the safety of their passengers. · Maintains assigned vehicle in clean and suitable condition, refuels vehicles, and replaces all used items. · Accurately reports the necessary information by correctly using the phone system. · Appropriately utilizes PPE and follows HIPAA, OSHA and Hospital’s policies and procedures.
· Performs other duties as required and keeps a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees. · Follow schedules, GPS, other department apps and reports regularly to dispatch. · Completes all required documents and maintenance records clearly and accurately. · Participates in training and educational opportunities. · Operates vehicles safely in a variety of weather conditions in accordance to established safety standards. · Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate patient information to other members of the health team. · Maintains vehicle and equipment in a constant state of readiness. · Legibly and accurately completes patient run reports according to department policy. · Maintains an average enroute time of 2-3 minutes. · Maintains appearance and sanitary condition of station and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED : · EMT transport knowledge · Ability to understand customer needs and respond to them in a proactive, courteous, professional and efficient manner · Ability to operate stretchers, beds and wheelchairs · Ability to communicate in English · Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED : · Ability to facilitate the movement of patients, visitors, employees, or patient-related items in the most expeditious, professional manner using the required equipment · Ability to communicate effectively with departments Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · High school diploma or GED · Five years of driving passenger vehicles · Customer service experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: · Enrolled in current State Licensed EMT program LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: · Active Class E Florida Driver’s License, or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and driving record in accordance with AH policy. · Basic Life Support Certification LICENSURE OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: · Current active license in the State of Florida as Emergency Medical Technician. · EVOC or CEVO certification (Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator/Emergency Vehicle Operations Course This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
