Training will be scheduled occasionally during the normal eight-hour day shift but primarily after hours and on weekends.   Perform specialized technical duties at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology to ensure safe and efficient operation of hyperbaric/hypobaric chambers, associated physical support systems and equipment.

  Operate hyperbaric/hypobaric chambers, associated equipment and systems by monitoring communications, pressure controls, compressed gas sources, data collection, atmosphere conditioning, breathing gas, fire safety and other systems to ensure safety and efficacy.   Perform hyperbaric/hypobaric chamber clinical and research procedures using varied pressures and atmospheric gas compositions.       Operate and ensure maintenance of high-pressure gas compressors and associated gas delivery, storage and control systems. Perform maintenance and repairs on hyperbaric/hypobaric chambers such as but not limited to corrosion removal, cleaning, painting, and testing; perform calibration of associated instruments; conduct functional inspections and preventative chamber maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation; replace parts such as filters, chemical absorbents and lubricants on predetermined maintenance schedule; report potential hazards to appropriate authority and prepare and maintain related records.   Provide technical assistance to research personnel and laboratory staff for the operation and maintenance of the chambers and associated equipment.   **Clearance physical required for exposure to altered pressure. Hours: Part-time Day –   Preferred Qualifications   Education Associate of Science degree in Underwater Technology or Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.   Experience Preferred five years of hyperbaric/hypobaric chamber operations, maintenance and repairs; Preferred – two years of machinery maintenance and/or machining operations.
