Position Summary Performance Improvement Consultant, Minneapolis, MN – E xamine complex organizational issues to identify, develop, and execute on improvement opportunities that will impact the strategic priorities of the organization.
Oversee and execute cross-functional, complex improvement projects in partnership with operational and clinical leaders. Partner with leaders and their teams to execute on improvement initiatives that are aligned with strategic priorities. Utilize performance improvement techniques to facilitate complex clinical and operational improvement/redesign projects with cross department and cross functional teams, lead teams through measurement and analysis, and ensure improved clinical outcomes. Apply improvement methodologies (PDSA, Lean, IHI. ) to achieve strategic plan objectives and outcomes. Develop implementation plans, problem statements, A3’s, current state workflows, and data collection plans with team leaders and manage the plan to execute measurable outcomes and improvements. Align organization’s improvement priorities with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines from accrediting and regulatory bodies. Use advance understanding of data and the ability to analyze and interpret data to identify gaps in performance and opportunities for improvement and perform analysis to identify root causes of low performance. Apply improvement principles to identify common and special cause variation and reduce waste within clinical and administrative processes. Create and present data visuals that reflect interpretation of findings.
Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced improvement specialists and consultants. Coach and lead executives, directors, managers, and frontline staff in structured problem solving, A3 thinking, and continuous improvement methodologies. Train and educate senior executives and leaders on performance improvement tools, methodologies, and concepts. Conduct and lead performance/quality improvement education seminars. Investigate complex patient safety, quality, and organizational issues to develop strategic priorities for improvement. Lead, facilitate and support quality and performance improvement teams and work groups. Identify opportunities to improve quality and performance measures; identify resources to implement improvements, partner with leaders to remove resource barriers, improve the consistent delivery of quality clinical care. Promote and utilize health equity principles and strategies when facilitating and developing improvement opportunities. Encourage and promote change at the local level to spread improvement work in partnership with leaders. Facilitate translation of the strategic and operating plan into improvement initiatives with strategic milestones and tactics.
Develop implementation strategies for improvement work identified in the strategic plan. Manage key implementation improvement initiatives to include issue escalation and resolution paths. Remote work is permitted. (No agencies or phone calls please. ) Qualifications : Requires Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Systems Engineering and 2 years of performance/quality improvement experience as a performance/quality improvement engineer, management engineer or related engineering role or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering and 5 years of experience as a performance/quality improvement Engineer, management engineer or related engineering role. M ust possess 2 years with the following: -Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, PDSA, and/or other improvement methodologies – leading large and/or complex process improvement initiatives and projects including design, project management and documentation (reports/presentations) – solving problems using A3 thinking, hypothesis testing, active listening, and relentless PDSA cycles Must possess Lean Certification or Six Sigma Black Belt Remote work is permitted.
