EOE Position Information: The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise to all planning, designing implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining and optimization all aspects of LAN/WAN/WLAN, optical network systems and wireless networks. Designs, plans installation, configures, and troubleshoots large routed, switched and wireless networks and demonstrates mastery of network fundamentals. Helps to secure operation, as well as, participate in disaster recovery (DR) preparation to ensure reliable communications are in place. Performs research, evaluation, installation, and upgrades of Network Infrastructure and related systems. Coordinates activities with Telecommunications, Infrastructure Services, and Desktop Services to successfully prevent and resolve connectivity and/or network quality issues.

Proactive with documentation and training of staff to support all Network Services. Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure a stable and highly reliable enterprise network. Works closely with business units, end users, and vendors resulting in cost-effective solutions for WakeMed’s growth and success. Monitors network hardware via network management systems and provides reports. Provides support for fault resolution and system recovery on a 24 hour basis as needed. Experience Requirements: 8 Years Related Position Experience Required – With Bachelor’s Degree 10 Years Related Position Experience Required – With Associate’s Degree 12 Years Related Position Experience Required – With High School Diploma Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science Or Information Systems Or Related Field Preferred – Or Associate’s Degree Computer Science Or Information Systems Or Related Field Preferred – Or High School Diploma or Equivalent Required – With Equivalent Experience Licensure/Certification Requirements: Cisco Certified Network Administrator Or Cisco Certified Network Professional Or Network Technology Required – Within 1 Year of Hire Hours of Work: 5 days/wk; 8 hrs/day Weekend Requirements: As Needed Call Requirements: Once/wk, weekends once/mo
