Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work. *Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK. Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period. Job Description The Gene Editing and Screening (GES) Core Facility (https://www. mskcc.
org/research-advantage/core-facilities/rnai-core) is recruiting a senior level scientist to provide high content cell-based screening (HCS) and small molecule high throughput screening (HTS) for researchers at MSKCC and outside clients. Arrayed small molecule and siRNA libraries, along with pooled functional genomics CRISPR-Cas9 and shRNA libraries, are offered for such screens. Core services include: assay development, performing large screens, data analysis, hit calling, confirmation and validation of hits, statistical calculations, dose response curves, drug and radiation synergies, synthetic lethality, and signaling pathway associations. Responsibilities: Develop cell-based and non- cell-based assays for HCS and HTS screens Perform arrayed RNAi, CRISPR, and small molecule screening experiments in a high-throughput screening format Acquire large-scale image / screening data and perform statistical data analysis Collect and enter data, assist in analyzing data, preparation of reports and manuscripts. Maintain and develop protocols for laboratory automation including chemical inventory Attend and participate in project meetings, assist in preparing and conducting experiments following established procedures or protocols, summarize results of experiments performed, and assist in interpreting the results of studies Assist with maintaining, testing and/or implementation of robotics and automation Interact with students / other laboratory members: assist with work as directed by the PI Education and experience: Ph. D. in cell or molecular biology or related field required Extensive hands-on experience with large scale tissue culture Minimum of 3-5 years experience in running microscopy-based studies Experience in advanced image analysis (i. e. ImageJ, Zen Blue, Columbus) Management of laboratory robotic equipment Technical Knowledge and Competencies: Experience with HCS and HTS assay development (biochemical/ cell-based) required Capacity to handle multiple tasks and competing demands under tight timeframes Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced research institute environment; respect project confidentiality Ability to summarize detailed issues in a concise and structured manner Ability to understand and carry out instructions; solve problems in complex situations Ability to interact with all levels of staff in a professional manner Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Capacity to exhibit adept multi-tasking and organizational skills required Willingness to work independently and in a collaborative team environment If you have any questions about this job opportunity, please contact: Dr. Ralph Garippa garippar@mskcc.
