Job Description
Albright College is seeking applications for Success Coach, Coordinator of Special Program and Athletic Liaison. The Success Coach, Coordinator of Special Program and Athletic Liaison, reporting to the Assistant Provost is a key player in supporting the success and persistence of Albright students. The Success Coach serves as the success coach for all assigned students, working proactively with students to monitor academic progress and success; advise students on college policies, procedures; and provide highly responsive, holistic academic focused coaching on individual student needs and barriers to success inside and outside the classroom. As Special Program Coordinator this person will assist in recruitment and ongoing support for students in the Phillies Futures program, maintaining regular contact with students and coordinating programming and reporting as required by program contract. As Athletic Liaison this person will work with Athletic Coaches to ensure academic success concerns of athletes are being addressed.
The Success Coach, Coordinator of Special Program and Athletic Liaison should exemplify a commitment in championing equity, inclusion and people of all statuses and identities within the position’s work with students as well as work within the greater Albright Community.
Essential Job Functions:
Phillies Futures Program Duties:
In consultation with Assistant Provost and Admission Office
- Coordinates with admissions in recruitment activities
- Coordinates programming required during the semester
- Work with Assistant Provost on any staff/faculty education initiatives needed
- Reporting data as needed
Student Success Athletic Liaison Duties:
- Academic Coaching responsibilities (See Academic Coach description)
- Liaison with athletic coaches regarding success concern around athletes in and off season. This will include regular meeting with coaches
- Coordinates training of coaches on academic alert software and FERPA regulations.
- Coordinates Schumo hours
Success Coaching Duties:
- All Students on Caseload
- Provide proactive outreach and appreciative Success Coaching for assigned students, assisting them address their individual learning needs in order to increase achievement and persistence.
- Monitor individual student progress and work collaboratively with other college student support and student alert processes, particularly the college’s student advising software.
- Follow-up on alerts per protocol
- Refer students with more complex concerns to the appropriate department or office on campus, for example Campus Health Center, Mental Health Center, or Residence Life, Student Accounts.
- Work with assigned students, in collaboration with faculty and staff, to promote the planning of intentional academic pathways as needed.
- First Year Students (FY)
- Meet with all first year (FY) students at least 2x a semester in coordination with FYS instructor
- Work with assigned FYS instructor to provide additional in class support as needed/desired
- Returning students in Good Academic Standing
- Email outreach at least 2x semester
- Be available for meetings as needed
- Students with SAP concerns
- Work with students on SAP appeals
- Complete SAP Action plan as determined by Financial Aid
- Students on Academic Probation
- Review Probation contract with student
- Complete and review Academic Action Plan
- Meet Weekly with Probation students for the first 7 weeks of the semester then adjust to bi-weekly if possible
- Coordinate Academic support with faculty, academic advisors and other support staff as needed
- Student on Academic Warning
- Outreach before the start of the semester to establish goals and needs
- If students appear to be struggling – establish regular meeting as needed
- For students in good standing personalized email outreach according to Academic Success Protocol
- Coordinate Academic support with faculty, academic advisors and other support staff as needed
- Other Duties
- Support Academic Student Success initiatives and outreach in coordination with the Registrar’s office.
- Meet regularly weekly with Director of Student Success
- Meet monthly with the Assistant Provost
- Attend and contribute to weekly Academic Student Success Staff Meetings.
- Attend campus events as assigned (such as Admissions events, Foundation Days, Welcome Weekend, CFA programing, Athletic events, Student events, Speakers)
- Attend and participate in Professional Development events/conferences coordinated with Assistant Provost
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Provost or Director of Student Success.
Qualifications/Prerequisites:
1. SKILLS
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Ability to work interactively with college students using best practices for advising, academic coaching, and academic support
- Highly collaborative, with proven ability to work collegially with students, faculty, and staff
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in individual and group settings, including ability to deal tactfully with and motivate students
- Integrity and good organizational skills
- Strong executive skills, able to manage large data and record keeping
- Student-centered commitment to the goals of liberal arts and professional education
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
- Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive and equitable Albright community, as described in Albright College’s Inclusivity and Equity Statement.
2. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
- At least one years’ experience with teaching, mentoring, advising, career counseling, and/or providing student services in a higher education setting
- Experience with retention management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and emerging social media networks preferred
- Experience with ACT101 preferred
3. EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
4. LICENSES
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
