The
Assistant Dean Undergraduate Advising sets the strategic direction for academic advising initiatives in Villanova School of Business (VSB)
and provides leadership and coordination for all advising functions. This position monitors the pulse of VSB student issues/concerns,
communicates with constituencies as needed, and recommends and adopts innovative approaches to delivering services as appropriate. The
Assistant Dean serves as the key contact for all parent inquiries, the point person for various University offices, and the liaison with
faculty and academic departments chairs regarding all VSB advising functions.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Consistent with both the University strategic
plan and the VSB strategic plan, develop and implement the strategic plan and vision for providing an exceptional advising experience for
all VSB students. Commit to continuous improvement and enhancement of current practices when necessary; remain current with state of art
advising practices and opportunities. - Lead and supervise the VSB Advising Team (Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, and
Transfer Student Advisor), promote effective advising, organize staff training, and coordinate the day-to- day advising operations to
provide an excellent and comprehensive high level of personalized service to students. Monitor students who have been placed on academic
probation; meet with at risk students and students in crisis as needed to assist in their progress and success. Oversee the Peer Advisor
program and the Peer Tutor program. - Serve as the key contact for parents and respond to all requests, concerns, etc. Serve as the
point of contact for faculty, staff, and the academic departments regarding advising communication, resolving issues, developing new
strategic initiatives, etc. - Serve as the key Clay Center contact for University Offices – Registrar, Bursar, Learning Support
Services, University Counseling Center, Office of Education Abroad, CASA, Office for International Students, etc. Be well versed in
University policies and procedures. Collaborate with other University college advising offices keeping them informed of events, deadlines,
and processes. - Other related duties and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree required. Master’s degree required in counseling or a related field required from a reputable and accredited institution. -
Demonstrated leadership skills, mastery of advising best practices, creativity, awareness of and responsiveness to the needs of
undergraduate students, and motivation to grow and improve services to students. Experience in undergraduate student academic advising with
an understanding of the academic, personal, and professional needs of undergraduate students. - Must have a minimum of 10 years of
relevant experience in academic advising or related experience with increasing leadership responsibilities. - Excellent
communication skills, ability to handle and manage various constituencies, and ability to manage many projects concurrently. Must be able to
work effectively with faculty and collaborate with multiple program offices within VSB and the University. Must be a team player and be able
to work independently; must have strong student development and counseling orientation. - The individual must have a deep
commitment to the well-being of the Villanova School of Business and the University, a commitment to the University’s Catholic/Augustinian
heritage, and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community. - Highly skilled in Microsoft
Office, Banner, and appropriate database/CRM tools.
Salary Posting Information
