The Rackham Graduate School is seeking a detail oriented Academic Program Manager to serve as a member of the Rackham Program Review (RPR) team within the Dean’s Office to develop and provide ongoing management for the program. The purpose of RPR is to strengthen our partnership with graduate programs, develop a better understanding of the scope and status of graduate education, and share best practices across U-M.
The Program Manager will oversee and implement the administration of RPR, including interpreting and analyzing data and recommending overall improvements. The Program Manager will work closely with the Director of RPR to provide the highest level of excellence, professionalism and provide additional support to other projects as they relate to RPR as needed.

PLEASE NOTE: Rackham is currently offering hybrid work schedules to staff, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site with the remaining time being remote.

Responsibilities*
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Overall management of RPR from planning, executing, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Provide highly responsible and complex administrative support for RPR; this includes creating and maintaining documentation of all RPR activities both internally and externally to Rackham. Edit, proof, finalize, and participate in redesign of reports and supplemental information in partnership with Rackham deans and staff. Manage the redacting efforts of survey data both in training redactors and finalizing the survey reports. In collaboration with the RPR Director, respond to graduate program requests for best-practices, resources, and special reports as needed. Maintain several databases within RPR including the Promising Practice database. Attend meetings with faculty and staff at all levels, both internally as a representative of RPR and externally as needed for the RPR Director.
Maintain and continuously improve Rackham’s database of academic programs and faculty/staff leadership. Ensure the policies related to the database are maintained.
Support Rackham’s Institutional Research team with the career outcomes collection of students – both managing communications and responding to questions from academic programs.
Serve as liaison and maintain consistent communication within Rackham and with university partners (including academic programs, Registrar’s Office, and others as needed). Coordinate informational materials for on-boarding of new faculty chairs/directors and proactively review Rackham’s Academic Program Hub for accuracy and ensure updates are completed in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor’s degree and at least four years of customer service focused administrative support experience or the combination of education and experience that enables the performance of all aspects of this position. Demonstrated ability to support a senior-level administrator with broad responsibilities in a complex organization.
Excellent planning, organizational and work coordination skills are necessary, including a positive, flexible, responsive service-oriented attitude with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, including the capacity to build collegial relationships across the University and the ability to work with a wide range of people who represent our diverse and multicultural society. Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable respect, discretion, initiative and diplomacy under stressful situations and in matters of a sensitive and confidential nature. Knowledge of and strong personal commitment to shared teamwork, continuous business process improvement, and professional development.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency with Windows operating systems, MS Office Products (MS Word and Excel), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Dropbox, and Google Tools. Some familiarity with SharePoint and WordPress. Ability to utilize data base management systems, tracking/logging systems, manipulate spreadsheets and utilize current information technology.
Knowledge of the academic goals and issues in graduate education. Understands and values diversity and the importance of inclusion as demonstrated through a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization.
Desired Qualifications*
Administrative support experience in a graduate department or program is strongly desired.
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency with web browsers, the M-Pathways Student Administration and Financials preferred.
Knowledge of U-M or other academic or nonprofit institution organizational structure, policies, procedures, and practices; and working familiarity with and appreciation of the diverse cultures of the schools, colleges, and units.
