The incumbent will lead advising efforts in Biochemistry. Working in coordination with the
Biochemistry Chair and the Director of Undergraduate Studies to advise newly admitted students regarding course registration and career
goals, assist and/or teach orientation, and/or professional development sections for students, participate in the Biochemistry undergraduate
education committee and coordinate student recruitment efforts for Biochemistry. They will be responsible for the coordination and
consistency of all advising services within Biochemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for student
    academic advising, one-on-one and in small groups in partnership with the Director of Undergraduate Studies and/or other faculty mentors in
    Biochemistry. Meet with and advise all incoming majors during Summer Welcome and Winter Welcome. Work with current students on course
    registration, degree plans and graduation plan submission. Have a comprehensive understanding of Biochemistry curriculum, policy and
    structure and ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to. Manage all functions of Biochemistry orientation.
  2. Head-up
    prospective student and group recruitment campus visits and undergraduate recruitment programming. Work in conjunction with CAFNR academic
    programs office on recruitment events. Send emails to admitted students about the Biochemistry program.
  3. Lead outreach and other
    efforts to recruit a more diverse student body. Monitor retention to provide the department with data as it develops strategies for higher
    diversity and retention. 
  4. Collaborate with CAFNR’s team of Academic Advisors. Participate in the activities of the Biochemistry
    undergraduate education committee. Participate in monthly CAFNR advising team meetings. Represent Biochemistry and CAFNR’s degree program at
    college fairs and recruitment events.
  5. Assist with fall and spring career fairs and participate in industry tour and other outreach
    programs.
  6. As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission
    and purpose of the University of Missouri.

Salary

$42,973 – $79,373 Commensurate with Experience

Minimum
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of
experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred
Qualifications

Master’s degree, previous advising experience, and proficiency in Miscrosoft Excel
preferrred.
