Job Summary:
Academic
Services for Student Athletes is seeking a Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month,
professional faculty position.

Academics for Student Athletes (ASA) is committed to providing holistic and inclusive
academic support for student-athletes. ASA aims to empower, teach, and champion student-athletes through graduation and beyond. ASA Team

Reporting directly to the Director of Academics for Student Athletes
(ASA), the Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director is the principal decision-maker for football counseling for ASA and directs a
small team of academic counselors. This individual must possess and demonstrate a superior administrative ability and understanding of NCAA,
Pac-12, and University rules as they apply to the provision of academic support to student athletes. The ethical and moral decision-making
and actions of this individual must be accurate, transparent, and always in keeping with the rules of the NCAA, Pac-12, University, and
ASA.

The Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director will provide counsel to student athletes regarding academics and life
skills; serve as liaison among coaches, teaching faculty, staff, and student athletes; work collaboratively with other units across campus
in efforts to assist student athletes effectively; monitor and report the academic performance and eligibility of assigned student athletes
to ensure compliance with institutional Pac-12, and NCAA rules and regulations. The Head Football Academic Counselor/Assistant Director will
also support the monitoring and reporting of Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data for football students and
be the academic recruiting liaison for official and unofficial football visitations.

Key Responsibilities
40% FUNCTIONAL AREA LEADERSHIP OF ASAS
FOOTBALL ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM:
Oversee and direct the daily operation of the Football academic support program. Provide direct
supervision of staff members (academic counselors and intern) working with the Football academic support program. Provide complete program
management including development, implementation, and assessment of program goals & objectives. Track and monitor the program budget.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with student athletes, coaches, faculty, and other units on campus in providing
academic support for student athletes. Gather information daily from various student records systems, the academic mentors, tutors, and
study facilitators regarding current academic progress and status of student athletes; provide timely and accurate reports to the coaching
staff in team and individual meetings. Gather information from teaching faculty regarding academic progress throughout the term to provide
timely reports to the coaching staff, identifying all academic concerns and a plan to meet the concerns. Ensure new or potential students
meet NCAA eligibility guidelines and complete required registration steps to meet university expectations. Assist with various aspects of
student wellness and welfare. Maintain appropriate records to monitor students progress and prepare reports as required. Support the
monitoring and reporting of APR and GSR data for football students. Coordinate faculty and staff r program in collaboration with campus
partners. Submit annual program evaluation and summary of services report to Director of ASA.

45% ACADEMIC COUNSELING,
MONITORING AND INTERVENTION
Meet regularly with assigned students to provide proactive counsel regarding academic performance as
well as academic requirements of the University, Pac-12, and NCAA. Provide recommendations and intervention strategies to student athletes
based on feedback from faculty and tutors. Attend, implement, and enforce the expectations of the evening study hall program, tutorial
services, and the transition program (BEST) provided by the ASA office. Serve as the academic recruiting liaison for official and unofficial
football visitations. Coordinate weekly meetings between ASA and Athletics Compliance to foster collaboration, communication, and proactive
problem-solving to meet student needs.

15% CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM EFFORT Help teach in the BEST summer bridge program;
communicate with incoming BEST football students, manage their classroom performance; assess their study needs in collaboration with the
Learning Specialist team; assign academic support services. Accept additional responsibilities and assignments at the direction of the
Director and Director of ASA. Contribute to a positive and productive work environment and maintain respectful professional working
relationships. Attend and actively engage in staff meetings, training, professional development experiences, and opportunities, as budget
allows. Hold membership in and participate in N4A, as budget allows. Regularly collaborate with co-workers, campus partners, athletic
department partners, and supervisor to successfully achieve mutually sought goals for the department and University.

What You
Will Need

Masters degree in education, counseling, psychology, or related field. Four years of experience working with football
student athletes within an athletic academic support program at a Division I or II institution. Excellent knowledge and working experience
with NCAA eligibility rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational, cultural,
and economic backgrounds. Excellent written and oral communication, computer, and organizational skills. Ability and willingness to travel
and work outside normal business hours (evenings, weekends, and some holidays).

qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have
additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have
Experience with academic advising
of college students. Demonstrated experience collecting and monitoring APR and GSR data. Experience supervising full-time professional
staff.
