Details:
Mercer University Athletics is searching for an Academic Advisor for Student-Athlete Support Services on the
Macon, Georgia campus.
Responsibilities:
The Academic Advisor of Student-Athlete Support Services will coordinate and
supervise the operations of the tutoring program and study table program. This position will serve as an academic support person in
determining NCAA Progress Toward Degree eligibility, eligibility of transfers, and providing academic progress reports to coaches and
administration. The Academic Advisor will assist in preparation of NCAA and conference reports. In addition, this position will mentor a
diverse population of student-athletes in transition to college and implement plans to aid in academic achievement of student-athletes. The
Assistant Director will assist in the recruitment process and academic orientation of student-athletes. This position also works with
software appropriate for academic advising and eligibility and monitors textbook policy for student athletes. The Academic Advisor counsels
students on scheduling of classes to maintain eligibility and ensure academic success. This position will also work athletic events.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university is required along with prior experience
advising and/or teaching in an athletic academic setting, which should include experience determining the eligibility of student-athletes.
Candidates with a master’s degree, NCAA Division I athletic work experience and/or who were a former student athlete are highly
desirable.
