Position Summary

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), Office of Undergraduate
Education (OUE) invites applications for three Assistant Directors/Senior Academic Advisors. The Assistant
Director will supervise senior academic advisors and assist with the coordination of advisement services to support undergraduate student
success as part of the administrative team in OUE. As a Senior Academic Advisor, you will advise a manageable caseload of undergraduate
SEAS students.

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education, the Assistant Director/Senior Academic Advisor
will:

  • Supervise SEAS Senior Academic Advisors.
  • Establish performance goals and measures and evaluate and report on
    performance of staff and services.
  • Lead an operational team within the office such as Communications, Campus Engagement, Advisement
    Programming, Admissions Review, and/or New Student Onboarding.
  • Partner with other SEAS OUE administrators to coordinate advisement
    services, team meetings, general office programs and activities, advisor training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Take
    an active role in planning and shaping the programs and services offered by the office and represent the office’s interests on campus
    committees and working groups as necessary.
  • Maintain an inclusive working environment that is free from discrimination and
    harassment and support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives related to the undergraduate student experience within
    SEAS.
  • Provide academic advisement to empower students to be active, responsible learners who set goals, develop plans, gain
    resilience, and take full advantage of the many academic and extracurricular opportunities provided by the University as they work towards
    timely degree completion.
  • Coordinate and instruct academic advisement group sessions, class presentations, workshops, and
    webinars.
  • Ensure that student academic records accurately reflect their progress in completing requirements by processing Academic
    Advisement Report (AAR) exceptions or appropriate forms, as necessary. Utilize expertise to complete academic reviews for degree audit, to
    support financial aid reviews, and to inform advising practices.
  • Assist with the recruitment, admission, retention, and success of
    all students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  • Collaborate with SEAS administrators, Directors of Undergraduate
    Studies, academic coordinators, and faculty advisors to improve communication and enhance the advisement
    process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and a minimum of one year full-time professional
    experience working with students in a college or university setting in academic advising (or other support program), teaching, student
    life, or recruitment activities.
  • Proficiency with MS word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must, with ability to learn new systems and
    software.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than
    three years of full-time experience working with students in a college or university setting in academic advising (or other support
    program), teaching, student life, or recruitment activities.
  • Strong understanding of and experience working with individuals from
    diverse backgrounds. Program management experience.
  • Experience or training with supervision, leading a team, mentoring
    professionals, or providing professional development.

Salary Range
$63,000 –
$73,000
