Job Description
The School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy (SEMTE) is currently seeking an energetic, self?motivated individual to join its Academic Advising team. This individual will play an integral role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the team and will report to our Assistant Director Academic Services.

Essential Duties
- Hire, train, and manage multiple academic advisors and front desk support staff.
- Develop a deep understanding of graduate student success initiatives and developing strategies to best implement them across the advising team. These initiatives include, but are not limited to
- Interactive Plan of Study (iPOS)
- Advisor Portal and Salesforce
- FSE engagement and student support
- End of term processing
- Graduate Admissions Campaigns
- Use and interpret data to develop and evaluate project and strategy efficacy.
- Work directly with program chairs on development of check sheets and handbooks.
- Create and maintain internal documentation for day-to-day training and development of assigned academic advising staff.
- Have a thorough understanding of university and FSE policies and procedures.
- Manage projects, including day-to-day functions (coordination and integration of information) as well as long range planning and design, working with the academic professionals.
- Represent the department/school/college and serves on various department and university committees.
- Provide the day-to-day direction and escalation for issues that require management resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field AND six (6) years of related experience in advising, student recruitment/retention, related student services, teaching in a college/university environment, which includes three (3) years of leading work groups or supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with curriculum process and higher education systems and related business principles
- Experience in project management and customer service
- Evidence of effective communication skills
- Experience in creating and updating website pages, including posting copy and loading images to websites
- Experience using good organizational skills
- Experience working with technical/specification writing and documentation
- Experience with software applications including PeopleSoft, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Salesforce.
- Experience in applying the principles, techniques and methods of teamwork, compromise and collaboration to produce desired outcomes
Working Environment
- Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended period of sitting
- Use office equipment including a desktop computer
- Lift up to 20 pounds
- Communicate to perform essential duties
- Work both independently and within a complex structured team
- Normally receives no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments with review of completed tasks.
