JOB SUMMARY

The Student Success Coach promotes an increase in learning, persistence, and graduation by
holistically addressing students’ college experiences. The Student Success Coach provides educational guidance, support, and
assistance using a variety of advising techniques to create personalized interventions, coaching, and support services (both academic and
non-academic) for all students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Promotes the College’s core values and standards of
excellence through respectful communication, maintenance of a safe and professional environment, synergistic partnership with those we
serve, and anticipation of students’, colleagues’ and customers’ needs.

· Contributes to the development and
revision of and adheres to policies and procedures.

· Assumes responsibility for own actions.

· Serves as a role
model and/or mentor to students, faculty and other teammates.

· Projects a professional image in dress, speech and behavior
including demonstrating respect for others.

· Shows initiative and judgment in daily work and functions as a team member
within thecollege.

· Represents the program and college in a positive manner.

· Maintains appropriate
confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.

· Provides accessibility to students and teammates by maintaining office
hours and communicating in a timely manner.

· Participates in college functions (e.g., teammate/departmental meetings, new
student orientation, graduation) as appropriate.

· Represents the college at community recruitment functions, as needed.

· Engages in active college committee work

· Fosters beneficial relationships and supports the greater community
through service activities.

Assumes responsibility for the following:

· Oversee and manage a
caseload of students, assisting them with entry to exit processes including, but not limited to the financial aid, registration, orientation
and degree completion process.

· Conducts one-on-one meetings with students to develop learning, financial, and life
strategies that promote student success, specifically focusing on problem solving, critical thinking, time/stress management, goal setting,
creating study plans, test preparation, financial literacy, and other student success skills and strategies.

· Works closely
with other college departments and offices to provide institutional resources, assistance, and guidance to students to overcome barriers to
student success.

· In collaboration with faculty, assists students with course selection, registration and appropriate
education solutions to overcome barriers to student progression.

· Manages, monitors, and uses available alert systems to
communicate with students in response to alerts and identify appropriate intervention strategies.

· Determines the best
personalized, proactive approach to serve students, as well as provide follow through and track the advancement of provided services through
intentional assessment and evaluation.

· Collect and analyze data to measure the success of coaching and intervention
strategies and identify and address the reasons why students fail to progress/withdraw.

· Identifies policies, processes,
procedures, and behaviors that create barriers to student success and works with the Dean to address and resolve these system-level
issues.

· Serves on college committees and work collaboratively with key areas to support persistence, and graduation
initiatives.

Maintains professional competence, including system- and college-assigned requirements.

· Possesses and
continually develops position-specific knowledge and requirements.

· Works with manager to identify and schedule needed
orientation and/or training related to the position.

· On an ongoing basis, participates in appropriate continuing education,
training offerings or other scholarly activities (e.g., certification training, formal education, membership in professional organizations,
conference attendance, presentation or publications).

· Annually evaluates own job performance and goal attainment.

· Effectively and appropriately uses computer technology appropriate to position.

· Completes relevant training, as
required (e.g., annual continuing education (ACE) modules, TitleIX and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training, Mental
health first aid training).

· Complies with Atrium Health’s clinical requirements (e.g., tuberculosis screening
tests,annual influenza vaccination), as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

·
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required, Master’s preferred.

· Must have at least one
year of experience in a college level student services office

· Experience working in academic advising, advocacy, and/or
coaching preferred

· Experience working with diverse students including first generation college students, students from
underrepresented populations, and adult learners.

· Knowledge of academic advising and student success initiatives

· Knowledge of current and emergent practices in higher education which facilitate student success.

· Ability to
establish and maintain effective relationships working effectively and cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, administration and the
general public.

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skill. Must have strong presentation skills.

· Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment, using good judgement, analytical skills and
problem-solving skills while upholding college procedures and policies.

· Ability to use a personal computer and other office
equipment, including college related software and email. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

· Demonstrate knowledge, good
judgement, and the willingness to support and enforce college policy and procedures and maintain confidentiality.
