Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director for Academic Advisement is responsible for developing and
overseeing the academic advising components of the graduate and undergraduate programs in the Department of Music and Performing Arts
Professions. Provide a bridge between faculty, students, and the administration within Steinhardt and the larger NYU community.
Responsibilities: include overseeing advising activities; creating and compiling handbooks and manuals;
directing orientation and student engagement activities; and contributing to and participating in the department’s marketing and recruitment
efforts, and admissions process.

Qualifications:

Required
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree in higher education, music,
management, psychology, or social services.

Required Experience:
5+ years experience advising/counseling students
at the college or university level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred
Experience:

7+ years background in music or another performing arts discipline. Supervisory experience or experience working in
a collaborative environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent management, organizational,
communication, interpersonal, and networking skills. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Microsoft knowledge. Knowledge of
subjects related to education and experience working in an academic setting a plus.

Additional
Information:

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD
$77,550.00 to USD $97,550.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position,
candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when
extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical
compensation, or other items.
