The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles
School of Medicine is currently recruiting a faculty member at the Associate Professor level or above who will serve as the Vice
Chair for Faculty Affairs and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
. The Department of Emergency Medicine is the newest clinical department
within the University of Utah Health system and has grown from a very successful Division of Emergency Medicine within the Department of
Surgery. This recent transition will make the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion integral to help guide and
support faculty development within our growing department.

A successful applicant should be board certified in emergency medicine and
have a strong track record of leadership and mentoring. Additionally, the individual should also possess excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, and have the ability to work with various stakeholders across University of Utah Health. In conjunction with the Chair
of EM, the Vice Chair will have oversight over the Faculty Appointment, Review and Advancement (FARA) process,
they will provision or connect EM Faculty to appropriate mentorship opportunities, oversee faculty wellness evaluation and initiatives, and
oversee the implementation of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives within the department. The chosen individual will report directly
to the Department Chair and will be a member of the Executive Committee within the Department. In addition, participation in key University
of Utah Health Committees will be expected.

The newly created Department of Emergency Medicine is rapidly expanding. Currently, the
Department staffs three emergency departments, with a fourth department expected to start in 2026. The Department offers fellowships in
research, ultrasound, palliative care, wilderness medicine, global medicine, EMS and Sports Medicine. Currently,
the Department has 28 residents with planned growth to 36 residents by 2025. The University of Utah Emergency Department is a Level 1 trauma
center, a STEMI center, and a comprehensive stroke center.
