JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Agricultural Sciences seeks an innovative and forward-looking leader who will bring energy, creativity, and vision to the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the College of Agricultural Sciences, including its faculty, staff, students, and outreach engagement. The Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs is a full-time, 48-week appointment, reporting to the Dean of the College and working collaboratively with college leadership and academic units. The intended start date is January 1, 2024.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

Coordinate, advance, and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) activities in the College

Provide leadership to the Diversity Coordinating Council

Collaborate with and support departmental DEIB committees
-
Offer and support DEIB professional development opportunities for faculty, students, and staff
-
Lead the discussion on the DEIB aspects of the college’s strategic plan, provide support to departmental efforts on DEIB planning and reporting
-
Assume responsibilities addressing Civil Rights compliance issues in the college, including Extension
-
Lead the discussion, development, implementation, and evaluation of DEIB practices related to teaching, research, and service
-
Provide leadership and support to efforts to recruit and retain a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
-
Help to identify potential resources to enhance DEIB progress

Represent the College on university-level committees, initiatives, and programs focused on DEIB

Supervise staff in the office of the Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs

Budget management as it pertains to the position

Serving as a resource for faculty and staff on DEIB issues
Qualifications
-
A doctoral degree in any academic field
-
Experience in academic leadership allowing the successful candidate to manage the responsibilities of this position as part of college leadership

Demonstrated commitment to and success in DEIB programming

Understanding of the land grant university system and the roles and responsibilities of agricultural sciences in it
