Job Summary:

This role is a key part of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion’s education and training team, reporting to the Director for IDEA Education and Training. The Facilitator and Program Manager (FPM) will assist in the creation and facilitation of a wide variety of educational offerings and trainings related to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability (IDEA) throughout Northwestern. They will utilize best practices in teaching and learning to inform the development of IDEA-related curriculum and engage innovative pedagogical strategies for delivering effective education and training to students, faculty, and staff at Northwestern’s Evanston, Chicago, and Qatar campuses. The FPM will also manage the daily operations of OIDI’s education and training team. This will include scheduling intakes, coordinating trainings, running event logistics, record keeping, collaborating with the Communications Specialist, among other duties.

This position will have a regular, weekly hybrid schedule with at least three days on the Evanston campus. Not all aspect of the job are covered by this job description.

*PLEASE NOTE: The salary range for this position is between $68,000-$72,000 and best consideration will be given to candidates who apply by August 7, 2023.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • FACILITATION: Facilitates IDEA workshops, trainings, and other learning opportunities. Implements an expansive vision of facilitation to include, for example, moderating dialogues and panels as well as leading symposia and colloquiums. Understands the uniqueness of Northwestern’s Evanston, Chicago, and Qatar campuses and emphasizes pedagogical practices that center accessibility and prioritize social justice.
  • IDEA CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT: Assists in the development of evidence-based education and training curricula for diverse student, faculty, and staff audiences on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accountability topics. Creates toolkits on particular IDEA topics to accompany trainings and to serve as stand-alone educational content. Develops e-learning educational content and other asynchronous learning opportunities.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manages the day-to-day operations of the education and training team. Leads the design and development of team databases. Reviews processes and recommends changes to incorporate state-of-the-art technology as appropriate into administrative, recruitment, marketing, and educational components.
  • COMMUNICATION & OUTREACH: Creates and nurtures partnerships with campus partners and external resources by defining, promoting and marketing benefits of participation in education and training initiatives.
  • EVENTS & PROGRAMS: Coordinates programming and logistics for all education and training team events including, but not limited to, room reservation, tech support, pre/post communication, and evaluation support.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching and/or facilitation experience related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of project management or program coordination experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, detail oriented, and to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact with diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish engaging relationships within and across racialized and other marginalized communities.
