Job Description

Position Summary –
The Assistant Director is part of the team of dedicated professionals in the Office of
Intercultural Engagement and reports to the Director of that office. This position focuses on coordinating peer education programming to a
diverse student body and supporting historically underrepresented students through social, educational, and holistic wellness initiatives.
The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with a host of colleagues across the campus to achieve unit, division, and campus equity,
diversity, and inclusion goals. The Assistant Director is responsible for a variety of programs including Safe Zone and Trans Zone
workshops, Pride Month, APIDA Month, Prism Mentoring, Gender and Sexuality Peer Educators, and Social Justice Peer Educators.

The
Assistant Director will supervise two graduate assistants. The Assistant Director will provide mentoring, professional development, and
oversight for the graduate assistants’ assigned areas of programming.

Skills such as collaborative leadership, cultural program
development and assessment, organizing complex and strategic operational processes, identifying and implementing innovative solutions,
identifying and addressing institutional barriers to student retention and graduation, enhancing optimal support for diversity, teamwork,
communication, and effective decision-making are essential to the successful completion of these duties.

Minimum
Qualifications –

  • Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, or a closely related field of
    study, from a regionally accredited institution
  • Experience and proven ability developing, implementing and assessing successful
    programs and initiatives directly related to this position with a diverse student population that contribute to enhanced sense of belonging
    in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse groups (including, but not limited to race,
    ethnicity, ability, gender identity, etc.)
  • Proven understanding and ability to create an inclusive environment and promote cultural
    competency in a University setting
  • Demonstrated integrity, initiative, dependability, openness, teamwork, a positive attitude
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to address the needs of student groups and staff
    and promote a positive campus culture and community

Preferred Qualifications –

  • Two or more
    years, post-Master’s degree, of directly related experience in Student Affairs
  • Demonstrated awareness of current theory and
    practice focused on LGBTQIA+ and Pan-Asian issues related to postsecondary education.
  • Experience implementing programs and services
    in higher education and an understanding of best practices for student belonging and sense of community
  • Experience supervising
    graduate staff
  • Experience with administering budgets in Higher Education
