Job Summary:
Come join our team in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR) within the Division of Enrollment Management at UW Madison! We are admissions professionals dedicated to recruiting, admitting, and enrolling the next generation of UW Madison undergraduates.

To support this commitment, OAR seeks a Senior Manager for Multicultural Recruitment to coordinate and support institutional efforts to grow undergraduate applications from students with historically underrepresented backgrounds, including students of color, low-income, first-generation, and students from rural backgrounds in Wisconsin and across the country. The manager works to increase the visibility of UW Madison in multicultural communities through the development and implementation of programs and supervising two to three Recruitment Coordinators.
Responsibilities:
Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
- 25% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
- 20% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
- 20% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
- 10% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
- 5% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
- 15% Reviews, evaluates, and makes admission decisions on student applications according to

Tasks:
- Manage the strategic implementation of robust multicultural outreach, recruitment, and yield efforts by operationalizing, monitoring, and supporting recruitment activities of multicultural recruitment team members.
- Facilitate team member development through setting clear job expectations, supporting their growth in application review, recruitment, and yield work, encouraging ongoing professional development, and completing mid-point and annual reviews.
- Support work across the office to help all OAR team members adopt and implement multicultural recruitment strategies and vision set by the Senior Associate Director of Recruitment, Outreach, and Communications.
- Enhance collaboration with campus departments and organizations invested in the recruitment, retention, and student experience of multicultural student populations.
- Develop strategies that enhance our community relations and support college access organizations in partnership with campus departments and/or external community-based organizations.
- Advise, counsel prospective applicants and their families, and support deposited student needs and questions about UW Madison’s academic and extracurricular options, admission requirements, and student life virtually and in person.
- Travel for recruitment and yield events representing UW-Madison and its undergraduate programs to members of the public and educational stakeholders.
- Work closely with designated OAR leads to achieve proper unit alignment around the development of strategic engagement initiatives to achieve admissions and enrollment goals.

Qualifications:
Required:
* At least four years of experience in college admissions, pre-college programs, or college access organizations
* Evening and weekend in-person and virtual work as well as limited travel required during peak times
Highly qualified applicants may have the following:
* Experience working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds
* Project management and progressively responsible experience
* Ability to leverage data and technology in support of decision-making and making strategic recommendations
* Experience attracting, recruiting, and enrolling undergraduate students/families from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education, preferably in a selective, high-volume admissions office at a four-year institution
* In-depth knowledge of the college admissions process, recruitment cycle, and/or financial aid process
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel), Customer Relationship Management Systems (i.e., Salesforce), etc.
* Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, collaboration, and public speaking skills
* Experience supervising and developing team members

This position may involve travel. Incumbents must be able to meet the required criteria to become a UW Authorized Driver which allows employees to drive for business purposes. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. A minimum of 60% or 3 days per week is to be worked onsite.
