Job Description

Summary and Scope of Position:

The LGBTQ+ Coordinator reports to the Director of the Institute for Inclusion
& Equity (IIE), and works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to foster an inclusive campus environment. The LGBTQ+
Coordinator serves as a resource to the LGBTQ+ community, and is responsible for developing programming, initiating outreach to campus
constituents, offering educational opportunities, managing the webpage, and advising relevant student organizations. A significant aspect of
the job is developing programming, from development to implementation/execution. 

Specific
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Radiance, serve as the primary adviser to Radiance, and
    supervise all student staff of Radiance, and student volunteers/allies, when appropriate.
  • Initiate and oversee campus-wide
    programming that supports a sense of belonging among LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff such as Pride Month, Coming Out Week, Transgender
    Empowerment & Awareness Week, and others.
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to track the effectiveness of programs and the
    experiences of the LGBTQ+ community on campus.
  • Work with campus partners to develop programs that raise awareness about
    intersectionality of LGBTQ+ identities and other marginalized identities and issues.
  • Offer education and training to specific
    populations such as student-athletes, student organizations, sororities and fraternities, student-facing staff, and faculty.
  • Collaborate with departments and offices on educational programs for the general campus and specific initiatives for LGBTQ+
    students.
  • Serve as a consultant to, and resource for, administration, faculty, and staff regarding sexual orientation and gender
    identity issues, especially relating to policies that potentially impact the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Work closely with Communications and
    the IIE to create content and maintain web and social media resources.
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop programming
    that provide a network of support for the LGBTQ+ community on and off campus.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of students
    from the LGBTQ+ community by serving as a resource to Health & Wellness, Admissions, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and other
    areas.
  • Serve on relevant committees that further the work and mission of the office.
  • Stay abreast of national trends, best
    practices, and current research in the field.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master’s
    degree in higher education.
  • Related experience in LGBTQ services is also preferred, as is a broad range of knowledge of social
    justice issues.
  • Demonstrate ability to solve problems and initiate and implement new ideas or programs.
  • Strong written and
    oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to student development, including the ability to research best practices and assess student
    learning.
  • Ability to present to small and large groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
