Job Description

The Director
for the Center for Multicultural Programs will oversee all operations of the Center, including budgeting, personnel management, scholarship
programs, academic support services, and educational and social programs. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, results-oriented
individual who has successful experience leading DEI initiatives and a driving student-centered organizational
change in a complex environment with multiple internal and external constituencies. Serve as an expert on multicultural student access,
engagement, and retention; provide vision, leadership, and guidance in developing and implementing robust educational programming that
advance the university’s vision of fostering a climate of diversity, inclusion, and sense of belonging on the Athens campus and regional
campuses.

Duties Include:

1. Leadership and Strategic Oversight
* Provide leadership and guidance for the
Center’s programming, academic support services, scholarship programs, strategic planning, and assessment efforts.
* Manage all
operations, including budget, personnel management, educational and social programming offered by the Center.
* Oversee and
coordinate all data collection and assessment efforts for the Center, and provide materials needed for the yearly D&I Annual Report, award
applications, and other reports as assigned by the VP.
* Collaborate with the directors of the other centers under the Division of
Diversity and Inclusion in developing and implementing educational programs and initiatives that advance a climate of inclusion and
respect.
* Foster a sense of belonging to support student retention through the development of relevant services for all students,
including those from underrepresented populations.
* Provide oversight of all staff members in the Center including
associate/assistant directors, administrative support, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student workers.

2.
Community Engagement
* Provide leadership for Division of Diversity and Inclusion’s partnership with Undergraduate
Admissions, the Center for Advising, Career, and Experiential Learning (ACEL), University College, Office of
Competitive Awards, Office of Global Opportunities, and Honors Tutorial College on all items related to multicultural student access,
recruitment, orientation (Bobcat Student Orientation), academic support, engagement, and retention.

* Collaborate with Development
and Alumni Affairs to cultivate alumni partnerships, scholarships, and programming to improve access for and benefit the retention and
graduation of multicultural students.

3. Education and Advocacy
* Participate in professional
improvement opportunities appropriate for the role of Director.

* Share best practices and remain current on trends related to
multicultural student access, student engagement, and retention.
* Engage in advocacy and leadership work on campus-wide
committees and in the local communities that the University serves and represent the center broadly, throughout the institution and with
external constituents.
* Support other Division of Diversity and Inclusion initiatives as assigned by the Vice President of
Diversity and Inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of 6 years related
    experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience

*equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree
  • Experience overseeing the
    operations of a multicultural or student retention center or equivalent either as director, associate director, assistant director, leading
    student development efforts or equivalent is needed to be successful in this position.
  • The preferred candidate should also have
    evidence of extensive experience in developing and successfully implementing impactful programming on diversity, equity, inclusion, and
    belonging for students.

Pay Rate:
The approved salary range is $68,299 to $80,252.
