Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Student Success and Multicultural Programming, a full-time staff member in the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) in the Division of Student Affairs, provides academic support services and diversity education programming/training to the Georgetown community. This role collaborates closely with the Academic Departments/Deans, Center for Student Engagement, Office of Student Financial Services, Office of Residential Living, and other key departments across the institution.
They oversee student success initiatives and diversity education programs, while collaborating on a wide range of campus events and student leadership opportunities. This position provides direct advising and programming for a diverse population of college students identified as first-generation, high financial need, and/or students of color.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Associate Director for Academic & Student Support Services, the Assistant Director of Student Success and Multicultural Programming works directly with students who hold leadership positions within CMEA-monitored student of color organizations and affinity spaces such as Black House and Casa Latina, and peer facilitated diversity programs.
Additionally, they design and teach workshops to students related to diversity education and inclusion on campus.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, social work or related discipline
- 2 to 3 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development, leadership development, program design & implementation
- Demonstrated knowledge of theories of student development, social justice, diversity/inclusion, and a demonstrated experience in advising student groups and organizations
- Experience in diversity training
- Demonstrated commitment to providing student centered support to growing, fast moving, hard-working teams
- Strong organizational, analytical and troubleshooting skills; detail-orientation; and ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and to learn quickly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to successfully and effectively liaise with various audiences and stakeholders within and across departments in a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work independently, resourcefully and on own initiative, and with flexibility to changing priorities
