Job Description
POSITION: A full-time Student Services
Coordinator position is available in the office of Multicultural Student Services (MSS) beginning Summer 2023. This is a renewable
assignment, contingent on performance and funding. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under
pressure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree.
- Experience working in student services.
- Experience
working in a higher education setting. - Experience working with multiracial and multicultural students.
- Experience with event programming.
- Teaching experience.
DUTIES:
· Coordinate and develop
services, programs/events, and activities to support the cultural, professional, and personal identity development of students served by the
MSS office, including Black American, African, Indigenous, Asian Latinx, multiracial, and multicultural students, to ensure successful
retention and graduation.
· Advise and refer MSS students regarding academic,
personal, social, cultural, financial, career and interpersonal concerns.

Co-Advise or support multicultural student organizations, e.g., African Student Association, Black Student Alliance, Hmong Student
Association, Latinx Student Association etc.
· Solicit and operationalize MSS
student feedback to better support the needs of students.
· Oversee and
supervise student employees and/or volunteers.
· Oversee and assist operations of
the cultural center spaces, including Latinx Cultural Center, Black Cultural Center, Critical Hmong Studies Center, and the Inter-Tribal
Learning Center.
· Maintain active relationships with local/regional/national
agencies and organizations that support the needs of communities of color.
· Engage
students of color and campus-wide constituencies through implementation of special programs designed to support MSS students, including
Living Learning Communities (LLC), heritage month and awareness program planning, etc.
· Collect, analyze, and maintain student information and prepare reports.
· Maintain confidential records.
· Create and facilitate intersectional educational opportunities for students, faculty,
and staff.
· Facilitate challenging conversations around equity, diversity, and
social justice.
THE UNIT: The Multicultural Student
Services office consists of a director, an administrative coordinator, and student services coordinators. Multicultural Student Services
hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year to celebrate the cultural diversity of our campus, as well as serving individual
students holistically through academic, social, and cultural supports.
