As a key component for faculty and student success within the College’s Academic Services division, Learning
Resources dynamically integrates library and tutoring services into one centralized department that supports the mission of developing and
sustaining innovation in research, learning, and technology; fostering and supporting intellectual curiosity, academic independence, and
student achievement; and establishing and nurturing strong partnerships and connections with students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Based on this mission, Learning Resources at the Clearwater Campus is currently in search of a strongly communicative,
collaborative, creative, and compassionate leader to shape and support the talent of a large team of disciplinarily diverse employees;
develop and contribute to a shared leadership model, both with direct reports and other team members; spearhead and implement innovative
solutions for campus and departmental success; and build and strengthen campus and community relations with major stakeholders, such as
faculty, administrators, and the partnership library.

Position Expectations:

As part of the college-wide Learning Resources
leadership team, comprised of a shared governance model with other campus Associate Directors and the Executive Director of Learning
Resources, Clearwater campus’ Associate Director of Learning Resources will lead the academic library and tutoring staff, services, and
programs at the campus level; innovate and lead select strategic departmental initiatives, especially those committed to student and
employee retention and success; and serve as the College’s principal liaison to the on-site partnership library with the City of Clearwater.

The ideal candidate for this position should demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for creating a lifecycle of learning for students,
faculty, staff, and community patrons within busy library and tutoring environments and should possess proven experience in:

  • Leading, evaluating, and innovating daily on-site and online operations within academic libraries and tutoring centers to support
    student and faculty success;
  • Directing, scheduling, mentoring, and collaborating with a large and diverse library and tutoring
    staff of approximately 40 part-time and full-time employees;
  • Managing shared spaces and developing programming and partnerships
    within a multi-use facility, especially creating connections between the College and the conjoined public library;
  • Providing
    continued and successful outreach to faculty and academic administrators, deeply connecting library and tutoring personnel and services with
    the classroom;
  • Leading, promoting, participating in, and evaluating information literacy education and academic support programs
    geared toward a wide range of undergraduate students;
  • Connecting and collaborating with various college and community partners and
    stakeholders, such as fellow Learning Resources leaders, the Provost’s Office, Accessibility Services, Student Life and Leadership, and the
    City of Clearwater;
  • Representing Learning Resources and the College by participating in and occasionally leading ongoing and
    ad-hoc committees and initiatives;
  • Exploring and implementing innovations within library and tutoring services, including adoption
    of new and emerging technological and pedagogical trends.

Position
Summary

Typical Essential Duties

  • Develops and leads on-campus and online library
    and learning center services and operations to meet the changing and continuous needs of students, faculty, and staff;
  • Budgets,
    plans, implements, directs, and evaluates services, programs, resources, material collections, and personnel within libraries, learning
    centers, and computer labs;
  • Facilitates staff, faculty, and student input into the planning and development of library and learning
    center resources and services;
  • Evaluates library processes, procedures, policies, resources and services to determine value,
    efficiency, and effectiveness;
  • Hires, leads, trains, schedules, and collaborates with department personnel to ensure implementation
    of best practices and ongoing employee empowerment, equity, and success; 
  • Maintains quality and satisfaction with public services,
    equipment and technologies, and learning spaces and designs. Mitigates related grievances.
  • Builds, directs, and schedules targeted
    instructional and outreach programs to promote Learning Resources across the campus and college;
  • Forms and sustains strategic
    partnerships with faculty and administrators to integrate Learning Resources programming and materials into the curriculum and culture of
    the campus and the college;
  • Adapts and integrates college initiatives into the mission and services of Learning Resources,
    especially commitments to retention, completion, and overall academic success.
  • Monitors and advocates for personnel and program
    budgets.
  • Tracks, evaluates, and reports statistics of facility and service usage.
  • Coordinates with fellow Learning
    Resources administrators to create, communicate, and implement consistent policies and procedures for libraries and learning centers, as
    applicable to all stakeholders;
  • Serves as member of college-wide Learning Resources leadership team; collaborates consistently with
    team to develop and implement innovative departmental programs and initiatives, especially those geared toward student retention and
    completion; and takes responsibility of certain initiatives or programs as part of a distributed leadership model;
  • Assists the
    Executive Director, Learning Resources regarding budgetary matters, strategic planning, organizational visioning, departmental assessment,
    and ongoing innovations;
  • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and manages the work performance of staff in accordance with college
    and departmental rules, policies and procedures;
  • Controls equipment/materials utilized within the program;
  • Serves as
    active member of campus leadership team;
  • Interacts with external industries, businesses, and professional groups on behalf of the
    college.

The classification is responsible for performing professional and/or program management duties in academic related
specialties in a single department or function.  Incumbents will manage the daily activities, develop plans to approach projects, implement
solutions, and perform professional level work in assigned area.  Incumbents are responsible for supervising employees or student workers,
and developing and monitoring a
budget.
Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in Library and/or
Information Science or equivalent.  

Experience:

Three (3) years’ experience in an academic library,
including three years supervisory experience.

above.

  • Sedentary
