Job
Description:

Title: Embedded Classroom Tutor (SUCCESS)

Unit: Contracted 

Department: Student SUCCESS

Reports To: Assistant Dean of Student Success Initiatives

Date: June, 2023

General Summary: 

This is a part time, temporary position.

Embedded Classroom Tutors will provide additional support and instruction in classrooms where SUCCESS students are served.

The Embedded Tutor (of the multiple subjects) will:

  • Assist students in classroom settings on the assigned
    subject matter
  • Run small group projects or discussions
  • Circulate around the classroom to support students who need support
    with classwork
  • Assist students with developing good study habits in the assigned subject area.
  • Support reading and writing
    skills in designated area.
  • Facilitate a study group in designated area when needed.
  • Update Professors on student progress
    through verbal and written communication
  • Communicate regularly with staff, faculty, and students.
  • Provide additional/
    scaffolded supports for SUCCESS students
  • Attend tutor training sessions.
  • Meet with supervisor to discuss tutor
    feedback.

Requirements:

  • All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United
    States.
  • Must have Master’s Degree or higher in subject area
  • Must have good study habits
  • Must have excellent computer
    literacy skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills

Additional
Information:

Salary Range: HR will provide this information in consultation with CFO & the President

Hours:  Typically 3-6 hours per week

Examples of class hours are the following:

  • Mornings (9-12 or any 75-90 time interval within this period if the class happens twice a week)
  • Afternoons (1-4pm or any
    75-90 time interval within this period if the class happens twice a week)
  • Evenings (6-9 p.m.)
