Responsible for the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Testing and Assessment Center which facilitates all standardized and placement tests, and instructional examinations assigned by faculty. Works with campus and college-wide leaders to provide quality testing conditions.

Salary Range: $36,754 – $44,105 yearly

Description of Job Function

1. Coordinates all scheduling, activities and workflow of the campus Testing and Assessment Center to ensure optimum coverage for students and faculty.

2. Oversees and coordinates the administration of assessment programs and administers assessment instruments by providing standardized entry placement exams for all enrolling students and national standardized tests.

3. Supervises, trains, and evaluates all fulltime and Staff Testing and Assessment Center staff. Assists Management in the hiring and the supervision of staff.

4. Plans, develops, organizes and coordinates training to support the implementation of College and State polices and procedure.

5. Works with faculty, students and parents to mediate difficult situations and makes decisions about problem resolutions regarding all testing processes.

6. Implements changes to assessment and academic testing programs and related regulations, conducts action research and participates in making appropriate revisions to policies, procedures, and systems.

7. Monitors the budget for staff payroll and department supplies.

8. Collaborates with student affairs and academic departments to assess needs for campus wide standardized testing and faculty examinations and make system improvements when necessary.

9. Provides students and faculty with clear information about assessments, testing eligibility requirements and policies.

10. Appropriately reports academic dishonesty issues and concerns to the correct department, division, or faculty members.

11. Supports faculty by providing resources for classroom examinations and directs faculty to other college support systems.

12. Insures security of assessments and examinations and ensures integrity of test administrations.

13. Coordinates campus assessment and testing reports.

14. Ensures that technological resources are used to generate meaningful information and increase efficiency.

15. Acts as a liaison between students and faculty on testing issues.

16. Advises students on preparing for state and national exams.

17. Oversee the process for administering exams for other colleges and university students.

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

19. Adheres to CLEP requirements to proctor exams if employed at an West, East and Osceola Assessment Centers.

Required Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Field of Study

Educational leadership, assessment, curriculum and instruction or related field.

Other Required Qualifications

Applicable only to East, West and Osceola Testing Centers: This position will work with College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing and software. Undergraduate students are not eligible to apply per the College Board’s CLEP® iBT Administrator’s Handbook. If at anytime they become an undergraduate student, they cannot remain in their position.

This position requires working with Valencia faculty exams; current Valencia students are not eligible to apply. If at anytime they become a Valencia student, they cannot remain in their position.

Required License/Certification

Must be able to complete required certification(s) to be able to proctor exams within the Testing and Assessment Center within 20 business days from date of hire.

Preferred Type of Experience

Experience working with students in a Higher education setting.

Teaching experience.

Experience coordinating general office functions and directing the work of others..

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of assessment programs such as placement testing (i.e. CPT, PERT) and/or skills/abilities testing (i .e. CJBAT, TEAS) and ability to maintain the security of said programs.

Knowledge of Blackboard or another learning course management system.

Skill in effectively communicating interpersonally, orally, and in writing.

Skill in the use of personal computers and relevant software, with the ability to take full advantage of technological resources.

Skill in reading technical information and applying knowledge.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and respond to difficult people and situations with tact and diplomacy.

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others in a variety of situations.

Ability to supervise and provide leadership to full and part time staff.

Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and working under pressure.

General Working Conditions

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
