Job Summary/Basic Function:
About This Role:
The Coordinator of Tutoring Services is a full-time professional staff position responsible for the continued development, planning, and implementation of Lamar University’s tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs. This position reports to the Director of STAR Services and collaborates extensively within STAR Services, as well as across campus with academic and student service departments, faculty, and staff. The coordinator will directly supervise professional staff.
PRIMARY DAILY RESPONSIBILITY
Oversee Tutoring Services including tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI).
What You’ll Do – Position Duties
As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement tutoring and Supplemental Instruction (SI) programs
- Hire, train, and supervise the Student Support Specialist and Administrative Specialist for Tutoring Services
- Advance partnerships with multiple departments and individuals across campus
- Market and promote programs and events
- Maintain College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) program certification
- Assess, evaluate, and grow programs
- Utilize EAB Navigate system for appointments, communication, and reporting
- Participate in professional development and tutoring, academic support, and student success research

To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:
- Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with one year of academic support programming and supervisory experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of tutoring and SI best practices, academic support program development, and learning development theory in higher education
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of professional and student staff
- Superior oral/written communication skills
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications
- High level organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a highly collaborative work environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to represent Lamar University with high levels of professionalism and customer service

In addition to the amazing qualifications and experiences listed above, if we had our say, we would also look for:
- Masters degree preferred with at least three years of experience managing a tutoring program in higher education and supervising full-time staff, completed SI training certification, and knowledge of the university educational system and student retention.

Salary: $36,005 – $40,000
