Position Overview

Manage the UNT Dallas STEM support center and the NSF funded Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in STEM program. Recruit and retain undergraduate LSAMP scholars and faculty research mentors. Lead center outreach and communication efforts with students, faculty, other campus entities, partner institutions and local community partners. Plan and organize Webinars and in-person events and support programming. Recruit, train and manage undergraduate student workers and center tutors. Manage resources, maintain records, manage center social media and prepare center reports and presentations. Collect data, prepare reports and work with partner institutions and external evaluators to submit required analysis and reports to the NSF.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with project management tools and their effective use in managing projects. 
  • Experience using a variety of on-line platforms and digital platforms to track work, communicate with others, promote recruitment and engagement, and pull data reports including, but not limited to MS Teams, Google Services, Google Classroom, Zoom, Qualtrics, Dynamic Forms, Apple Classroom, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Teams and data to set goals and perform employment responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior-level leaders including UNTD administrators, community college leaders, superintendents, central office administrators, executive directors, principals, educational foundations, and non-profit leaders
  • Formal or informal training in developing community relationships and engaging clients in program services 
  • Manage and expand program partnerships. 
  • A mature awareness of how social and cultural identities influence interpersonal situations and a demonstrated commitment to utilizing one’s position to further equity in teams and for young people. A past record of results leading strategic initiatives that include spearheading 
  • Strong influencing skills marked by an ability to lean another’s motivations and barriers while communicating to their emotions, character, and intellect
  • Strong self-manager who can develop and execute work plans towards ambitious goals, independently adjusting course as needed to deliver results
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse populations at varying levels verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures 
  • Excellent oral and written communications capabilities. 
  • Strong presentation skills. 
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to direct a wide variety of services efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics); Experience with managing STEM undergraduate support programs; have general computer proficiency, including data entry and webpage management. Proficiency in MS Office, and working through emails and virtual meeting tools (e.g. Zoom, TEAMS).

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00AM- 5:00PM with some flexibility in work schedule.

Job Duties

Job Duties:
Manage the BAT-LSAMP Scholarship Program and UNTD STEM Center and lead efforts in recruitment, communication and retention of undergraduate LSAMP scholars and their faculty research mentors.
Attend events at and facilitate relationships with the LSAMP partner institutions.
Plan and organize events for the benefit of STEM undergraduate students at UNTD and at the LSAMP partner institutions. Facilitate partnerships with other campus departments, student groups, and faculty.
Lead program and center outreach by 1) communicating with STEM undergraduate students and faculty through monthly newsletters, weekly emails, and event reminder emails, 2) attending campus events such as orientation, preview days, community engagement events, etc. and 3) attending local community events such as STEM expos, science fairs, etc.
Recruit, hire, train and supervise STEM Center assistants and STEM Center tutors
Manage resources and other administrative duties including 1) purchase resources, supplies, and items for the STEM Center, BAT-LSAMP scholars, campus events and arrange travel for participants 2) track expenditures and submit expense reports, 3) manage resource inventory, 4) maintain STEM Center and BAT-LSAMP websites and manage STEM Center social media accounts and 5) prepare reports and presentations regarding the STEM Center utilization.
Collect data, prepare reports and work with partner institutions and external evaluators to submit required analysis and reports to the NSF.
