    Position Summary:
    The Testing Center Program Assistant works under the supervision of the
    Director of the UAA Testing Center. The Testing Center is a part of Student Affairs. The incumbent is responsible for test administration
    and monitoring candidates for computer and paper based exams inside the testing center. Candidates are monitored using video, audio and
    computer monitoring software.

    Duties:

    Administrative: Create an atmosphere of effective, efficient, friendly
    and reliable service in the Testing Center by providing an easy, accessible, credible resource from which individuals can access
    information. Enhance customer service and help with problem solving for customers and provide information to empower students to make
    informed choices. Ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal statutes and regulations as well as professional organization
    standards, including FERPA, Clery Act, and Title IX. Answer phone calls, and communicate with students, faculty and staff regarding exam
    scheduling. Provide testing related information to students and the community. Fill out and review proctor request forms for candidates from
    other schools. Email exams after completion to the school/testing company or vendor and follow-up as needed until the exam is received.
    Maintain testing center email. Provide referral information as needed to related UAA departments, local testing resources and/or national
    resources. Accurately enter Accuplacer placement scores into Banner. Maintain files as required by University policies and procedures. In
    coordintation with the Testing Center Manager, responsible for preparing Testing Center deposits and delivery.Essential

    Testing Lab:
    Prepare exam rooms each morning in preparation for the day’s exams (unlock doors, log in computers, cleanup work area). Assist with
    maintaining all computers and printers used for testing. Keep all computers up-to-date with software programs and upgrades. Maintain testing
    center scheduling system register blast by adding dates and semester schedules. Update testing master calendar with scheduling appointments
    for Pearson Vue, Register Blast, PAN, ISO Quality, Castle, and PSI. Setup and arrange virtual and online remote exams for candidates who
    live outside the Anchorage area. Verify remote proctor identity and location. Remote exams include Accuplacer, Physics Placement, Psychology
    Diagnostic Test, TEAS. Maintain security over login and password protected access.Essential

    Test Proctoring and Distribution: Acts
    as Lead Proctor to testing operations Testing Center. Administer a variety of computer-based exam to testers based on National College
    Testing Association guidelines (NCTA). Some of the exams administered include Placement and Admission tests: Accuplacer, HESI, Kaplan, TEAS,
    TOEFL, Certification and Licensure tests: Comp Tia, ACE Fitness, AK Residential, CISCO. Exams for Credit: UExcel, DSST, CLEP. Exams for
    Employment: FBI, USPS, TSA, Customs. Verizon. Proctored Exams. Maintain test security and monitor test takers based on NCTA published
    guidelines, as needed, with software. Adhere to NCTA published rules and regulations. Update and maintain testing worksheet and databases.
    Maintain confidential student testing files. Certification: Pass and maintain certifications for Pearson Vue, Prometric – DSST, TOEFL, The
    College Board -Accuplacer, CLEP, Performance Action Network (PAN) – FBI, Customs and Border Patrol, Immigration and Naturalization Service-
    19, PSI – USPS, AK Residential, etc. Acts as backup Test Center Manager for standardized exams offered on weekends. This includes storing
    exam materials, hiring staff, distributing auxiliary materials for staff, supervising the test administration, printing and posting signage,
    set up rooms on campus based on exam spacing requirements, monitoring candidates and returning exams to the vendor. Exams include ACT, GRE,
    SAT, LSAT, NCIDQ, NCEES, NICET. Resolve any exam issues by quickly analyzing and solving problems independently or reporting immediately to
    the Testing Manager Maintain confidentiality and security of all testing materials, test logs, and other test documents. Must be vigilant –
    able to pay close attention to cheating or prevention of cheating; able to administer Testing Center policies and procedures. Maintain a
    quiet atmosphere appropriate to testing. Work with students who have need of special accommodations, including but not limited to reading
    tests, scribing tests, or providing a special testing climate.Essential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    Knowledge of technical areas of expertise.

    Computer and software application skills.

    Ability to communicate effectively
    orally and in writing.

    Ability to work in a high pressure, time sensitive situation.

    Ability to pass certification testing as
    required for specific testing programs.

    Ability to follow specific written and oral directions.

    Ability to multitask using
    various software programs and computer monitors simultaneously.

    Ability to check in multiple candidates while monitoring exams in
    progress for violations.

    Ability to utilize video cameras and other observational resources to document violations.

    Ability to
    handle unexpected testing situations without jeopardizing test security and the environment.

    Understanding of General Accepted
    Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with bookkeeping, reconciliation, cash-handling protocols, and purchasing.

    Ability to
    perform duties in a potentially stressful environment manner conducive to testing.

    Ability to lift 50 pounds and to perform basic
    equipment installation that may require frequent bending and squatting.

    Ability to walk around for extended periods of time in
    supervision of testing candidates.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

    Preferred
    Experience & Education:

    Two years technical experience. Experience working in an educational and/or university setting
    with a diverse student population. Experience with online proctoring technologies. Previous security surveillance experience preferred.
    Experience in work that required attention to detail with a high level of accountability. Experience in working collaboratively and
    effectively as a part of a team. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Proficient with standard office equipment, including
    computers, and programs, scanner, fax machine, copier. Experience working as a computer based proctor where the primary job was observation
    and test administration.

    Required Experience & Education:

    Associate’s degree in a relevant field
    or the equivalent. Two years work experience as a proctor where the primary duties included proctoring computer based exams. Candidates must
    possess advanced computer skills to include software installation and upgrades. Candidates must be familiar with how to utilize a web camera
    and other biometric equipment.

    Salary Information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, non-exempt staff
    position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New
    hires will be placed on the UA staff salary
    schedule
    , Grade 76, based on education and experience.
