Overview

This position is open until filled with an initial application review to take place after July 5,
2023.

Center for Excellence in Aging & Longevity (CEAL) spearheads efforts to meet the current and emerging
challenges of healthy aging across the lifespan through collaboration with local, state, and national government, health and human service
providers and community stakeholders.

Peer support is a form of emotional and practical help from somebody who has lived through a
similar experience and is trained to offer support. The Peer Support Specialist works with direct care workers and
caregivers participating in the San Diego Caregiver Connections training program to foster connectedness through acceptance, understanding,
and validation.

Responsibilities:

The Peer Support Specialist provides
a wide range of supports and services that contribute to success of the San Diego Caregiver Connections program including, but not limited
to:

Responsibilities:

Program Support –
50%

  • Draw on personal experience as a direct care worker, family caregiver, or paid caregiver to share insight and
    perspective.
  • Identify barriers and challenges and deliver interventions and activities that meet needs, build on strengths, and
    achieve outcomes.
  • Provide individual or group support on issues impacting older adults, direct care workers, and
    caregivers.
  • Serve as a link between participants and CalGrows to assist with course registration, and incentive
    payments.
  • Develop resource directory and provide community resources and referrals to program
    participants.

Community engagement – 30%

  • Assist with strategies to outreach and engage to the target direct
    care workforce population.
  • Develop and promote program marketing materials.
  • Participate in orientation
    programs.

Administrative duties 20%

  • Manage certificate of completion for program
    participants.
  • Maintain records of program participants and course curriculum.
  • Participates in staff and supervision
    meetings as scheduled.
  • Compile data for monthly reports.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM
EDUCATION

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis,
    and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs.

MINIMUM
EXPERIENCE

  • 3-years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment
