Job Summary
This is a grant-funded, full-time, fiscal year position to facilitate the successful implementation,
coordination, and execution of the STARS (Saluqi Tutors Achieving Reading Success) tutoring program. The Program Coordinator provides a
coherent vision of the program and ensures its execution according to the grant parameters.
The Program Coordinator also works to
represent the STARS Program and Southwest Tennessee Community College to all external stakeholders including the students and their
families, the schools’ and their leadership, and the community. The Program Coordinator reports to the Director of Academic Support.
Job Duties
- Provides execution of vision of STARS program
- Works with Tutoring Coordinator of STARS
Program to enact the grant requirements - Hires staff in compliance with the parameters of the grant
- Ensures tutoring staff is
trained according to the required curriculum - Coordinates monthly check-ins with all tutors
- Visits tutoring sites and centers
on a weekly basis - Enrolls all students into STARS Program
- Facilitates Family Engagement Strategy Plan to include a
communication plan, outreach strategies, and safety and accessibility requirements for all students - Facilitates monthly Literacy
Council meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; master’s is preferred
- Three (3) years direct experience with tutoring programs or teaching experience for kindergarten through third-grade aged children
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently to carry out the vision and purpose of the
STARS tutoring program - Ability to effectively lead others
- Ability to work effectively with school partners (principals
and teachers) and their families - Ability to work well with community partners
- Ability to work with diverse groups of
individuals - Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
- Ability to function well as a team
player
