Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Full-time, 10-month Instructional Specialist position in the Writing Studies Department starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. The instructional specialist will be an integral part of the department and university through teaching in the first year writing program. The teaching load is 4/4. This is a two-year, renewable, non-tenure track position.

The Writing Studies faculty are a diverse group of writers, educators, professionals, and artists who are committed to the teaching of writing and critical thinking to the students of Montclair State University. Writing Studies faculty come with joint enthusiasm for the intellectual work of academic, public, and professional writing and to get to know their students who are pursuing a wide variety of majors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • MA or MFA or equivalent in Writing, English, or related field

PREFERRED:

  • PhD preferred
  • Record of success teaching first-year writing in a diverse, multi-ethnic environment.
  • Significant coursework and/or professional development experience in composition studies.
