Assistant Vice President for Admissions
Sweet Briar College, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations
for the position of Assistant Vice President for Admissions. Reporting to the Senior Vice President in charge of Alumnae
Relations, Development and Enrollment and working closely with the College leadership team, the Assistant Vice President for Admissions will
provide leadership to a dedicated admissions and financial aid staff of approximately 15, engaging them in the shared goals of enrollment
management. The Assistant Vice President for Admissions will join Sweet Briar College at a pivotal moment and actively lead efforts to
capitalize on its national recognition for innovations, its restructured curriculum and its tuition reset to help the College reach its
enrollment targets by FY 25.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Senior Vice
President, the assistant vice president has responsibility for an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million, not including
payroll. - Lead all recruitment and admissions efforts, providing the vision for the enrollment operation while continuously
assessing and refining the strategy and tactics needed to achieve objectives in a rapidly changing environment. - Partner with
operations in Communications as well as Alumnae and Advancement that can provide support to the admissions team - Partner with the
Athletic Director, coaches and others in athletics to establish mutually beneficial relationships that enhance recruitment efforts. - Actively and enthusiastically participate in all recruitment efforts nationally and internationally.
- Work with consultants to
develop an effective pipeline strategy. - Further develop and support a strong admission and financial aid staff that is optimistic,
excited about advancing the College, responsive, innovative, analytical, energetic, results-oriented and student-centered. - Harness
data and emerging technologies to hit enrollment targets and meet net-revenue goals. - Continue efforts to raise the visibility of
the college regionally, nationally and globally. - Collaborate with other members of the president’s office.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree (required) or advanced degree (preferred) plus a minimum
of five years of senior leadership in enrollment management. - A sophisticated understanding of how to make decisions regarding the
strategic use of resources and experience managing substantial budgets. - Excellent technology skills and analytics focus, with the
ability to work effectively with data. - The ability to galvanize the Sweet Briar community around a dynamic enrollment
operation. - Experience with collaborative retention strategies.
- Strong management background working with a dynamic
team. - Demonstrated success assessing and developing targeted, diverse student markets.
- Familiarity with ERP systems
(FrontRush, Underscore, ZeeMee) and an understanding of how to deploy them in order to utilize their full capabilities. - A strong
understanding of admission and retention best practices nationally and internationally and an understanding of how to translate those to be
effective at Sweet Briar. - Compelling written and verbal skills with the ability to serve as a dynamic representative of the College
articulating a vision effectively to all constituencies. - High energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
with a willingness to “roll up sleeves” to get the work done. - The ability to lead by example with a collaborative
transparent leadership style. - The ability to observe, listen, learn and clarify needs while engendering trust quickly among various
constituencies. - The willingness and ability to adapt to changing needs
- The ability to make difficult decisions and
communicate those decisions to key stake holders. - The belief in the mission of Sweet Briar College and the education of young
women.
