Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; some evenings and weekends may be required
Summer Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7am-6pm

*This position offers remote work allowing employees a combination of onsite and work from home options. The expected remote work schedule for this position will be determined upon hire.

Job Summary

GateWay Community College invites applications and nominations immediately for the position of Vice President for Administrative Services. Ideally, the selected candidate will begin on or around October 1, 2023 but no later than January 2, 2024. Options to work remotely until January 2, 2024 are available and negotiable.

The Vice President for Administrative Services (VPAS) plans, directs, evaluates and provides oversight of a major College function under the direction of the College President, is a member of the College’s executive team and serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The following areas currently report under the Administrative Services Division: Marketing, Information Technology, Business Services, Facilities, Human Resources, and Public Safety. The VPAS performs, directs and oversees the conduct of performance evaluations, training, hiring, discipline and termination procedures. Work is performed according to overall management and strategic objectives, and reviewed for outcomes produced and results obtained. Essential Functions

  • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff
  • Plans, directs and provides oversight for all financial and administrative services areas
  • Provides innovative leadership and administrative direction related to strategic and operational planning
  • Acts as an advisor to the College President regarding financial analyses, operations, programs and services
  • Serves as College representative on boards, committees, and maintains working relationships with business, industry and community partners
  • Oversees the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures
  • Prepares and administers budgets; monitors/approves expenditures; administers and oversees contracts, grant funding and/or procurement activities
  • Identifies and initiates innovative approaches to community engagement and related marketing and promotions
  • Integrates and aligns strategic mission and goals with that of the College and District; prioritizes projects and initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway: Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. Equivalency allowed for Non Academic area.

OR

Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway: Master’s Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development. Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes: division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No equivalency.

Desired Qualifications

  • Six or more years of progressively responsible budget development & management experience within a community college environment and/or the public sector
  • Direct the development and implementation of fiscal goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the College
  • Experience with strategic planning and the development and effective execution of work plans that incorporate and execute District policy objectives and directives
  • Exercises strategic and political acumen, tact and diplomacy. Independent thinker combined with being collaborative, a good listener, approachable and visible with good communication skills
  • Oversee development and monitoring of College budgets consistent with District goals and applicable laws; advises the President on fiscal implications of budgetary decisions
  • Ascertains and meets College and community educational and financial needs by communicating and managing change effectively with managers, supervisors, faculty and staff and the service area community
  • Actively participates in and supports College shared governance components and activities and other collaborative processes
  • Develops and participates in College and District planning processes to assure articulation between financial planning goals and objectives and those of other College and District organizational units
  • Supports a climate that promotes innovation, calculated risk-taking, and improved service to students and the community
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities characterized by transparency, authenticity, integrity, respect, and inclusiveness
  • Experience engaging in courageous conversations that challenge the status quo, resulting in strategy designed to improve operational efficiency and student success
  • Earned doctorate in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
