Job Description
We are seeking to hire suitable individuals for the role of Risk and Internal Control Officer, who will be responsible for developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures that identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks associated with the company’s operations.
The role involves working with other departments to identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
Job Responsibilities
Develop a compliance policy
Ensure staff complies with the Internal Code of Conduct; Policy/Procedure and Regulations on all transactions
Define risk categories and tolerance and recommending actions and mitigation plans on identified risks with Management.
Build a strong KYC and KYCB compliance environment in the company i.e. ensure capturing of all valid KYC documentation into all customers’ accounts in the through the regular review of customers’ renewal rate on the system.
Carry out unannounced field visits to clients’ business locations before or after loan approval as the case may be.
Monitor and track compliance with Service Level Agreements.
Prepare reports required for management decisions including the KYC report, Credit report, Fraud and Forgeries report, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) report.
Educate and train staff on compliance issues, and act as the contact point within the company for compliance queries from staff members
Conduct Special Investigation on fraudulent transactions dictated and escalate to Management.
Ensure integrity of the transactions through daily review of daily transactions
Escalate any major deviation from the standard policy
Institute and enforce aggressive Cost reduction Strategies/Tactics for the company to ensure zero% income wastage
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration is usually required. A master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field may also be preferred. Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will be an added advantage.
Minimum of two (2 ) years of work experience as risk / internal control and compliance officer preferably in a Fintech and finance company
High-level proficiency in written and spoken English; good knowledge of word processing; proven spreadsheet skills; good interpersonal relations skills
Strong ethical standards, objectivity, qualitative risk-based thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent process evaluation and management skills.
Meticulous, open-minded, autonomous, and fast learner.
